I'm still on EosD. Trying to clear in on normal.

PoFV on normal and IN on normal too, i try to beat PCB on normal but Yuyuko still rape my ass in the end

Playing for about a year now.
1cc'd all games on normal. Working on extras and hard.

Everything 1cc'd on Hard, all the extra stages except Yukari and Koishi, both of which I'm pretty sure I could do if I practiced them a bit. It's just 1cc'ing a game on Lunatic is a pretty big jump. Right now I'm going through and beating the games with alternate characters. I've beaten IN with all the teams but SDM, EoSD with both Marisas, PCB with Reimu B, Marisa A, and Sakuya A, and so on. Still never gotten past stage 5 of any Touhou on Lunatic.

Hard/Extra everything, Lunatic PCB, MoF, PoFV, everything cleaned on StB. I don't really play PC-98 though.

EoSD: All Normals
PCB: All Normals except SakuyaB. Extra with ReimuA,B.
IN: All Normal teams. Extra with Border Team.
PoFV: All Easy Modo.
MoF: Normal with ReimuA,B and MarisaB (bugged and unbugged)
SA: Easy Modo.

Playtime: On and off since December '06.

1cc'd 6, 8, 10, and 11 on hard, 9 on Lunatic though I don't think that even counts. I can't even finish 9.5.

Extras I've only finished are Ran's, Mokou's, and Suwako's.

Done 1ccs of all on Lunatic except PoFV. I'm missing like four or five cards in StB, but I'm too lazy to try.

Uh, not nearly where I should be for completion. I'm pretty lazy.

I've been playing since around just before PoFV's release, so 2005 or so.

Cleared SA and IN extra, cleared every game on normal 1cc, PCB on hard 1cc. Several IN Last Words and almost every scene in StB.

More likely to work on finishing up the Extras than I am to ever bother with Lunatics.

All the games on normal, and all the extra stages. Only beaten PCB and SA on hard since those are my favorites

I 1cced IN ONCE on Normal... with 7 lives, no Slowmo, as Reimu's team.

Shit was fucking intense, but damn if I wish Touhou games would just cut out stages 1-3. I like Wriggle Nightbug and all, but having to go through the DERP quality levels to actually get to challenging is just rage-inducing.

Play the early levels for the score, and the later levels for survival. I find graze whoring in the first few levels of IN to be quite fun, actually.

IN actually has a fun scoring system though, so that DOES help. But, still, grazing feels more manly if I am doing it to survive, a la the witch girl's STAR SHOOTAN in stage 4.

I generally move in with 7 lives, so by stage 3, I generally have to purposefully lose one just to not pick up more than I can hold.

Honestly, I'm not very good. I haven't played much this past week. I can get up to Remilia on normal with default lives, but that's probably just because I used practice mode a lot. I haven't played PCB or SA much, and IN and MoF are easier than EoSD for me. Haven't cleared any extra modes yet.

I've noticed this as well. Hard is no longer very challenging, but Lunatic on most games is still quite a bit too much for me. I guess it's just a matter of practise, but it'll take a while. Anyway:

As for PC-98 games, I've completed Story of Eastern Wonderland and Lotus Land Story on Normal but I don't really play them that much.

As for SA: I've been playing it on hard every now and then, but I tend to ragequit whenever I die more than once on Orin, so I never get anywhere near completing it. Where could I find a decent replay of stage 5 on hard? I rarely watch replays, so I usually just go for youtube if I need one, but that's no help this time.

I'd be a whole lot better if I didn't swich to MAC back in '06, and forget about touhou for two years. I've effectively been playing for about six months.

Are you sure? When I first did EoSD on hard I thought I was getting it too, I even posted a thread about it here and apparently one of the guys that did the patch replied, and he said he never encountered any issues of that type whatsoever and that he tested it thoroughly. I'm still in doubt but I was able to finish the game and deathbomb frequently.

I press the bomb button and then fly into a bullet => life lost, no deathbomb
I just tip the direction button fast for minimum movement -> the character sprite doesn't move when I press, it moves when I release.
The original unedited version works fine.

The step up from Normal to Hard is like starting all over again, and I don't know if I have more time to spend on Touhou. I am pretty much a Sunday shooter now.

IaMP: Don't get this game, spellcards rape me hard, some seem even broken and unbeatable by leaving the enemy Invincible forever.

IN: working on hard, can't decide for Eirin or Kaguya but im getting to final stage. Fuck me, IMO Marisa is harder than Reimu on stage 4, but I prefer using the Scarlet Border Team so im fucked.

PoFV: Recently began playing this more seriously, well, cleared normal with Reisen, found out that you unlock Extra by beating the game from easy to hard with every character and that pissed me off.

StB: Hahaha.

MoF: Almost cleared Hard but didn't try recently.

SWR: Cleared Normal with countless chars, never beat Hard. Months after, I found out you can fly. I raged. Should try Hard again some time.

SA: Cleared normal with Suika, had been working on clearing it with Patchu but didn't try recently. Hard is a bitch, can get to final stage though.

UFO: Never played this "second" Demo that is supposed to be easier. At least I could pull off big score runs without losing lifes or bombs on Normal. But I expect to get lots of green UFOs to bomb through everything first.

EoSD: Hard, was near to clear it on Lunatic, but then I reformatted my computer, and now something is really fucked up with this game... I can see myself or any pointboxes. If you think no hitbox is hard, try playing with no character at all.

Even though normal is probably a cakewalk to a lot of people here, if you take a look at many other Touhou communities (ex: DA) a vast majority of people have trouble with even easy modo.

It's also worth noting that clearing Extra stages are beyond the means of most average people. I'm curious if /jp/'s Touhou-playing community really is this special, or if everyone who can't 1cc Normal mode is keeping mum.

I am too bad to unlock the Phantasm stage.
I try with my savedata to unlock. But with this unlocked Phantasm savedata, I can play this stage. And I must say... Yukari is a little more easy as Ran.

It is actually not that bad since there is a lot more people interested and the translations keep flowing with regularity. But, as you said not everything is that great. I didn't use to get mad at things like the community, actually I don't get mad yet, it is just anoying. I find pretty stupid the fact that people actually enjoy Touhou just because of the MAD videos and doujinshis, not even the porn material is worth to have it as your primary fandom you spend your time in.

The criteria is pretty simple for Phantasm. A: Ran must have been defeated. B: You need 66 spellcards captured (meaning you can't lose a life, bomb, or break a border or let them time out). Versions for Easy, Normal, Hard, Lunatic and Extra are separate, and you just have to capture them once. They can be done in practice mode too.

So it's not hard unless you can't beat Ran, in that case, Yukari is probably out of reach too.

Sorta. Non-boss parts are harder than the Extra mode. Ran's second spellcard is easier while the other two are harder. As for Yukari: Harder, easier, harder, easier, easier (I find the lasers help my timing for some reason), similar, harder (I HATE this one), easier, easier, harder? The last one is memorization, and can be practiced in IN.

Everything 1cc'd on Normal, all Extras complete. Can clear Lunatic with continues on earlier games, but still working on Hard 1ccs. PCB cleared, EoSD and SA next on the list - can get to the last bosses, so far.

Probably because I played Extra much more than Phantasm (in order to unlock the latter), I still think Extra stage Ran is easier than Yukari. Yukari's first two spellcards seem harder than Ran's. Only Spiriting Away strikes me as easier than its counterpart, Princess Tenko Illusion.

Have been playing Touhou for 2.5 yrs. Have 1cc'd all the regular games on normal for the first time within the last 6 months, save for SA, HRtP, and Mystic Square (for some odd reason). I have never lasted very long on any of the extra stage bosses.

Seriously, what kinda drugs do you people take? "Danmaku thread! Shoot the Bullet extra stage X go!" "Aw, man, it took me three tries to beat it." I spent the better part of a month practicing exclusively PCB before beating it, after more than 2 years of playing it casually!

I think you can actually get pretty good fighting Marisa in IN. Her star patterns teach you to spot for openings and go for manly grazes quite well, simply by leaving you with no option but to try, and be amazed at what you can do. Of course, she won't teach you the crazy pattern extrapolation you need to, say, take down the ghost bitch but, hell, it's good learning.

Then again, I don't 1cc Touhou games, I suck. What do I know?

Ugh yeah, I tried IaMP recently and I just have no idea what I'm doing. I've played fighting games before but not for many years and never very often. So basic shit like combos and correct blocking and switching up attacks might as well be alien to me. At least it has easy move sequences.
