ALRIGHT SO
My friends and I are half decent at DDR. We switched to using controllers because transporting mats became a hastle, and they were pretty cheap anyway.

One of my friends is rather good. He can complete nearly every song on it's highest difficulty without any problems. That is, untill recently.
After about a week of hiatus (save for our expert, who happened to play the previous day,) we decided to pop in the disc again.

In breif, he sucks ass. The day before he had been doing fine. And then the next, nothing. He's getting C's on even Expert, and the cause of this eludes us.

Sure, he's had problems in the past. We'd joke that he was dyslexic because occaisionally he'd get so into it he'd think the up-arrows were down-arrows and such. This wasn't very frequent.
He's hitting the arrows, but he's getting greats and goods. How can someone's reaction time drop in the duration of a few hours?

Your friend just lost the groove.

His controller is probably broken.

He gets plenty of sleep. In addition, I could beat him despite having been awake 24 hours previously.

>>3089371

Yes, that was my first inkling-- but we swapped controllers and they seem to work fine.

>>3089410

This is plausable.

>> No.3089644

It's not that his reaction time is slowing. It's that he's being slowly disconnected from the time flow. Eventually, he will become frozen in time. You need to find him help soon.

Is his soul connected to someone else? Perhaps they are draining his life force away.

Rather, his soul was already drained. He's now one of those things from Shana that replaced dead people to not fuck over reality or someshit.

>> No.3090961

Probably something similar to a writer's block.

Stepmans have golden times and out times.

Your friend is probably experiencing an out time or he was in golden time from the beginning (which later ran out).

He's giving you a handicap because you suck.
He's tired of always winning.

I thought this happened with everything. Or at least it does for me, especially in shit like shmups and fighting games. One minute I'll be standing toe to toe or even kicking my opponent's ass, the next they'll damn near get a perfect on me.

>> No.3091257

Because while you may have been good for a while at it, that skill level you reached was actually the beginning of not-trash, and you've yet to attain a skill level considered good by bemani junkies. The cause of the problem is that you're not truly understanding the flow(sounds like bullshit shounen, don't it? It exists in bemani, trust me). Grind harder.

Pick up IIDX or Pop'n, or even Stepmania, get good at that, THEN you'll have reflexes that can't be faded.

Alcohol can do the trick pretty well.
