Do you think it might had been Tsukihime's luck that it didn't have that many CGs and flashy things?

It kinda forced you to concentrate on the text instead of being distracted by the jumping screen.

I think that's the problem. In a VN, the main part is the story, the long walls of text worth of it.
When you try to do this sort of thing, you're only updating the images, which is hard work by itself, but it just won't feel fresh unless it has a sizable new story to go along with it.
So, one starts to ponder, should one remake the graphics and just sell the same thing with a prettier package, or spend that time crafting a new, original concept.
The answer depends on how money grubbing one might be. Hence, milking.
