The item gathering events in Aigis are always massive grindfests that expect you to blow SC on stamina refills to max the unit out.
What most players do is just take the unit with minimum stats and either blow a Fest and a few cost reduce spirits to make her usable, or just ignore her and eventually max her out with revivals in the distant future.
If you like the unit and want to use her, you can blow the 20-40 SC + time to grind the event out. I know some guys in here do it occasionally.

Had the same issue with raids. Opening the raid finder/summoning screen would get the game stuck in infinite loading, but if I let it load for a little bit and reloaded the game, it'd load normally the next time.
It stopped a few months ago, but a few other shitty bugs still persist like infinite loading if I open the present box too fast after entering the home screen, occasionally freezing in combat if I kill the first wave before the wave counter at the top loads, or the game turning 3fps any time a stage takes longer than 6 minutes.

Yeah this is a big thing why I play a lot of the games I'm playing at the moment. It never feels like I'm going to get fucked out of a character because they'll rerun in 3 to 6 months so it doesn't really sting or salt me and I just start saving for them.
Now everyone 2020 is super rare, the stone income is really rough with reaching 50000 being a real ordeal plus the super fast pace of one 6* a week we've had lately that gives you zero time to save up anything. The guarantee is good but getting to 50k takes forever and it deeply hurts having to go to 50k in the first place. Higher rarities have better skills, which are important for raids and challenge maps, though you can't discount the utility of some 4-stars. But your main goal in events is trying to make a 30/30 quality 5* weapon, as most power is from equipping a bunch of those. I know Japanese autists will attempt making multiple but I don't think anyone here is going to have that kind of dedication. They also have made it a lot easier between blueprints and more available from event rewards.
You will also want to make sure you get the 5* quality kits from various modes, but you use those on certain weapons from gacha that are released with limited characters.

Also if you are feeling pinched for s-material, try to max level members, everyone gives over 1000 s-materia when you reach max level. Lower rarities are a lot easier to max-out compared to 4/5-stars. It might take a while to do so for your 5-stars, and for those you should focus on anyone with Skill Boost++

Some 3-stars got a casual outfit 5-star release, but almost always limited for some reason. They don't do it very often either.

I got into Midnight Girls a few months back when an anon promoted the game with a pic of a classy oni girl with a bulge in her skirt.
