That being said I was browsing the archives a few days ago for something and saw a post from the nousagi translator where he said he'd only been studying for about 6 months at that point and that gave me a massive boost in confidence. If i can get to the point where I understand half as much as he seems to in a similar amount of time I'd be happy. It also made me a little mad because it reminded me that I original started about 5 months ago but dropped my reps for 2 whole months because anki didn't save my progress like 3 times in a single week. I'm glad my posts can help to inspire others to work on their reps like other posts did for me back when I started out. The rate at which people learn seems to differ a lot and of course it also depends on how many hours you put into this.
6 months does sound pretty quick but I will be the first to admit that there are still a lot of stuff I miss and eventually don't understand at all, forcing me to give up on understanding that segment.
Usually when I do my summaries I spend a couple of hours re-listening to the parts I want to summarize because I usually need a couple of extra do-overs to fully grasp what she says.
Because as you say, understanding her is pretty damn hard as she has a peculiar way of speaking and when she accelerates into overdrive it is fucking crazy.
In any case keep up the work because there will come days where you understood the whole stream and those days are fantastic for motivation.

It was possible with their earlier software, it almost happened to Flare once, but luckily it turned on her back camera instead of her front camera. With their new software, it streams the model directly to their PC rather than a screen capture of the iPhone app, so it can't happen anymore.

You can think that the camera portion of the app is separate from the avatar that they are displaying. The camera portion supplies coordinates to the avatar on how it should move, so essentially the camera image disappears after face features are extracted from it. Or at least that's the gist of the logic I think they are using, I've worked with face detection programming before.
