Not what happened in the novel brah. Shiki didn't kill both in the novel or in the movie. And in the novel it's a random girl that's generally thought as Misaya that actually kills him later. Shiki only cuts one of his arm.

And he does not doing all this to 'kill his time', he simply doing it out of courtesy by returning people with their lost memories wherever he goes since he's actually trying to learn about his past throughout other people's memories. But since some memories better be lost for some people, his actions sometimes drive those people to the edge, and in actually every school he goes, there's suicide, though he never intended that.

And no mentioning about magical plant in the novel, just faeries. And yes, Kurogiri that asks them to accompany Misaya. In the novel, Azaka just scare Misaya with her fire sorcery.
