As someone who doesn't give a shit about Touhou (but sees it 24/7 on /jp/ and thus knows almost everything there is to know about it,) I find the "secondary fan" insult particularly funny. The plot in the games basically is "oh I have to go through here" "you can't!" "then I will beat you!". Liking the games has absolutely nothing to do with liking the fanon (or vice versa). They might as well be two completely different series.

Anyway, I'm pretty much rambling, but the point I was trying to make is that I don't see where the idea that being a secondary fan is bad came from.

Instead I'll go with Aya. I didn't like any of the games that came out after Aya was being focused more on. I didn't like the gameplay direction of PoFV or StB, and didn't much care for MoF at all aside from the music. SA was a really great improvement, but that was despite Aya being in a minor role not because of her.
