Alright where to start. First off Asian chicks for the most part are shy as hell, you do come across the random slutty one but they are kind of rare. They like funny people a lot. If you can get a Asian chick to laugh she will remember you. Be nice, acting like you're from /b/ will scare them right back to a rice paddy. They like to travel in groups so if you can confront a few of them at a time your chances of picking one up is increased a lot.

I worked in Japan for 8 months, will probably be going there again soon if the global economy doesn't collapse... I learned a reasonable amount of Japanese, all my co-workers were Engineers too and spoke English to a degree. Even though they were very geeky they all had wives, unlike my co-workers in Germany of whom only half of them seem to even have a girlfriend. As for what Japanese girls like? To be honest, mostly the same things European girls like. (but the nice ones) Friendly, non strange guys who take an interest in them. All girls like it when you buy them things of course!

Yeah so I did not try to pick up a Japanese girl, but I don't think it was any easier than in Europe. If you do speak a bit of Japanese and go up to a girl or meet a girl somewhere you get 5 minutes guarenteed talking time no matter what you say since you are a forigner and therefore 'part interesting'. But after that if you're a complete loser weeaboo you're on your own.
