Moving to Japan isn't difficult at all - degree or no degree. The hardest part is getting into the country but even that isn't difficult. I don't know where this rumor started or why it has persisted over the years but it's simply not true. Every year Japan receives thousands of immigrants from shithole countries like Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Korea, Indonesia, Nepal etc. If they can move here with no degree so can you.

So like I said, first you need to establish a status of residency. The easiest way to do this is to get a student visa. Apply at a 日本語学校, they are basically visa farms. Almost everyone who attends is there to exploit a student visa, not actually study Japanese. You can stay in Japan for up to two years on a student visa through a 日本語学校 and that will give you two whole years to find a way to stay in the country. It is easier to change status of residency than to acquire a status of residency - requirements are often waived once you are in the country and your approval depends on the opinion of the individual immigration officer reviewing your case. You could switch to a work visa without a degree or 10 years of experience (I know those who have done it), or you could meet someone and get married, transfer into a university or 専門学校, or some other status of residency. It's really really easy. You need $10k to make it happen - 60% of that with pay for your school fees and the other 40% will go towards your plane ticket and living expenses after you arrive.

I came on a student visa in 2016 and I'm still here. I switched to another status of residency and currently I'm in the process of naturalizing under one of the special methods.
