I remember I tried the trial for one VN where the protagonist was some well-known military guy on vacation with his little sister on this tropical island and she gets kidnapped by a revolutionary group who force him to help them with his genius military knowledge to initiate a revolution and overthrow the bourgeois from power.

It had such a good idea but it was fucking awful in execution. The writing was painful and the 'gameplay' that you had to go through was even worse.
