Also it's partially ceasing to be a style and becoming a genre of itself in anime. Sort of like how parody anime have become cliche.

I don't really care for the superflat art style. Visually it's fine, but in typical artists faggotry they try to attach all this deep meaning to it until it comes off sounding like total bullshit. No, your art doesn't MEAN anything. Take your symbolism BS and stick it in your ass.

As hard as it is to believe, art that's not ZOMG REALISTIC isn't all superficial.

Why is it called superflat? It's not that much flatter than regular art...

It's just a label for an art style that has already existed for years. He can attach whatever post-moe political message he wants to it, but that's all it is really.

I seriously doubt that anyone would care if it wasn't for a few pretentious American artsy hippy types. It's kind of like bands like Afrirampo and OOIOO in that it's mostly shit and had to become popular overseas before anyone in Japan cared.

That said, Namida Surprise! single cover is nice and probably the least expensive piece of superflat art I could ever hope to own.
