I just understood the whole point of Beatrice's game and the importance of it. Shit it's a whole lot deeper than I thought and borrows a lot from quantum physics and magic.

I'll explain it in spoilers:

The plot employs Copenhagen's interpretation of quantum physics: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copenhagen_interpretation)), the ever popular Schrodinger's cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger%27s_cat)) and the Many-worlds interpretation: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Many-worlds_interpretation)) and consensus reality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consensus_reality))

Now according to the old Beatrice the island can be likened to a closed quantum system with infinite possibilities existing at once at the same time. One of those possibilities is that the murders are carried out by the Golden witch Beatrice. If every observer there agrees that Beatrice is the killer and the one committing the crimes then the wave function of the quantum system "collapses" and that becomes the objective truth. Since Battler is the only one who doesn't accept the witches the system cannot collapse and become objective truth and thus Beatrice cannot exist outside that closed system. In another way of looking at it a consensus has to be made about the reality of witches and if Battler doesn't agree then it's useless. That's why it's important to get Battler to bend no matter what and that's why his arguments no matter how fucking stupid can be accepted until the witch uses red. The witching using red can be detrimental as well. Since she's the more "correct" observers being the near omnipresent narrator then each red she uses cuts up an alternate possibility. If she makes a mistake and denies her own existence whether direct or indirectly then she collapses the wave function to a universe where she doesn't exist.

But this is where it gets detrimental in story telling. If all possibilities are possible and become a separate outcome in another universe then whats the point of having answer arcs with all the answers being possible? Battler can say a huge super transforming robot made from nude sexy girls did it and it won't matter if he's right or not because in another universe he is correct. And that also brings to question if everything is "true" then what was the blatantly anti-rational statement that Ryu made? If everything exists in a state of "truth" then why not pick the most rational logical one that doesn't rely on witches?

So in the end, do you enjoy the use of scientific and philosophical plot devices in your magic fantasy VN? I for one do.

You can't apply quantum states to macroscopic objects.

It's fiction.

Many worlds theory does that.

Consensus reality is a red herring. Virgillia was trolling you. There is one objective truth for each game, and the red can only state the facts of that truth. The different games are different kakera as seen in Higurashi.
