A question /jp/, because Mangagamer Engrish FAQ is confusing as hell (primarily for those who purchased something from MG).
It says you have to activate the software after DLing it (but only for the first time), but then a bit later it says you can only activate it five times with your current ID.

Is that five times thingie refers on the case someone fucks it up and mistype the first activation, or you have to activate the game every time you start it (and obviously request a new code after five times).
I'm not really keen on spending money if it's the latter. Thanks in advance.

Here's the rest of the junk I got today. I bought the goofy Kirakira karuta card game and got MG loli shirt, radio drama CD, and the Shin Koihime Musou bag for free. The people at Mangagamer are extremely nice. They were also Japanese and didn't speak a bit of English, so maybe that's why they were so nice to me. And I found Woofycakes in the artist alley and bought that Miku print from him. i dont know how it is elsewhere, but in FL cons there's way too many lower powerlevel faggots. There are some high level people, but they are vastly outnumbered. I find that high level people are being chased out, or tend to keep to themselves at cons now days.

Of course this is in FL, and our con scene is all kinds of fucked up anyways.

You make cute lies, I know what you really look like.

Mangagamer is not awesome...
Their translations are crap and most of the times their translations shouldn't even be refered to as english.
Suika and Da Capo being exceptions (Their translation is still not "good" bit it is still english) and the translation of Kira Kira (which was released after) was still horrible which somewhat prooves that they are not getting better.

Their translations are crap and are worse than fan translations.
Then there are of course bad fan translator groups who fails at getting things translated but then there are commersial companies like Mangagamer... so I guess that is fair.

In general Mangagamer sucks and they are raping the english Visual Novel market with their licensing.

>> No.2897810

>>2897807
You can always take their scripts, proofread them, remove the censorship, and then make an unofficial patch. It's not like fan translators are bound by law.

>> No.2897817

Mangagamer pretty much did a vacuum cleaner job on my bank account. I brought like everything I could, I have no self-control.

The translation of Kira Kira was good.
A few problem but overall pretty solid.

You forgot to mention that we didn't care so much until now. But now that they got Higurashi and possible Umineko we can only think of one thing: DON'T MESS UP!

This has to be a perfect release.

First of all,
I don't work with translating stuff into english
Second of all,
I suppouse that they are not translating stuff in the middle of the night without any proof reading.

>> No.2897960

>>2897824
Yes, because people who are good enough to translate for a living sucks at their job more than anime nerds that took Japanese 101.

>> No.2897977

>>2897960
Fantranslation are not superior, it's quite the opposite and usually pretty much fail, broken and delayed over years if ever released that is

>> No.2897991

>>2897960
It's sad, but that's the way it is.

>> No.2897999

>>2897960
The translators aren't the problem, it's the proofreaders that are bad.

>> No.2898038

>>2897960
Well, pretty much yeah.
Because these "anime nerds" as you called them are in fact dedicated perfectionists that doesn't want their works to be released in bad english since they know that they would forever ruin their reputation all over the internet (which is a very important thing for these so called "anime nerds")
As opposed to the people who are translating things for money who are lasy people who can blame all of the mistakes on the editors afterwards.

The differance in quality is quite big, besides Mangagamers translation staff are propably worse than the average "anime nerd" who have taken japanese 101 since the average "anime nerd" still knows proper english so that they know when their translations are totally retarded.
