I really like the voice and songs, but the artist herself is a great example of why 2D and 3D are very separate things. With the albums she adds pictures of herself imitating the poses on the covers, and it doesn't evoke the same responses as a cute 2D loli at all.

That sounds pretty denpa when you put it that way. I always sort of though the opposite though. Most denpa singers almost never show their face, and I admired their reluctance to mix 2D and 3D and therefore their dedication to their denpa persona.

My understanding (literally from the OP) is that denpa isn't a genre, it's a descriptor, calling denpa genre would be like calling progressive or melancholic a genre. i.e. At most it's part of a genre. The primary genre of most of the stuff here being Akiba-pop or just moe-songs.

Most of David Bowies albums are at least partially if not fully denpa.
Also the band Sparks is basically a western version of IOSYS with worse singles but generally more consistent albums, although they only reach levels of denpa that IOSYS get in their touhou arrange albums.
Of course , there are also western bandcamp artists who explicitly are influenced by japanese denpa.

Relooking at the definition given and wiki I could be wrong.
I tend to think of denpa as the quality of uncanny aesthetic excess, which I'd say is one of his defining features, but I disregarded the other aspect of denpa, which is the trance/slog/hypnotic nature of this aesthetic excess, which Bowie has way less of.
I probably disregarded the second aspect since IOSYS is my favorite denpa group (Hyper denpa-chan is my single favorite album), but I've pretty much never found their songs to be hypnotic/sloggy/trancy like I do with other denpa artists. I don't know if that means that that second aspect isn't an essential/definitive aspect of denpa, I'm listening to them wrong, or if strictly speaking most of their work isn't denpa.
This is to say, if the second aspect isn't essential and it's just the first then I think Bowie often counts, otherwise not.
Also I find that 続・生意気いちごミルクDAYO ！！and the last 4 or so minutes of Station to Station feel nearly identical to me, with Station to Station being a bit more reserved and a bit less heart-strings sad.

There was (is?) a way to dowload all of RTL and the Denpa thread archives a while ago. A lot of these requests which pop up here I just go into Windows Explorer and search. Since the amount of new releases is somewhat limited, and those two have a pretty large library, there will often be a match.
