You decide to go about your daily routine instead of persuing masters. Telling Caster and Saber that there will not be action today, you head to the dojo. Your schedule has been screwed up since Medea arrived and you need to continue your practice in both martial arts and magic, as it is more important then ever.

You take a few practice swings with your shinai before you are interrupted by Saber and Caster.

"Shirou, should we not be preparing to fight tonight? You said you wanted to win as quickly as possible, and I do need the grail."

"I know Saber, and I do intend to do that. Last night had me thinking I don't know anything about the situation. Not the other masters, the servants, or even you and Caster are capable of. If I just rush in without a plan I could get you both killed."

"I see. It's a relief that you're not wasting time and that you desire a plan. However you should worry about yourself, as a Master and human you will be the first target as killing you will be much easier then either of us and that by killing you the enemy will be rid of both Caster and I. Let's make sure you're prepared then, shall we Shirou?"

Saber sports an eerie smile as she removes a shinai from the wall. You realize that this training is going to hurt. You don't even see her move as her shinai connects with the back of your knee and drops you to the ground before you find it pressed against your neck.

"We have a long road ahead of us Shirou."

It's late and its cold outside. You see your breath as walk to the shed out back to practice your magic. Saber's lessons had been harsh, but after several sweaty hours you felt you actually learned a few things from her. By the end you could even block a few of her blows.

Not a single sage...

Sitting down you enter a trance and start to create a magic circuit and insert it into your body. Once inside you slowly bring it to life, ready to practice your strengthening magic. You see a metal rod laying next to you and attempt to strengthen it. As your pour your mana into it in an attempt at reinforcement, the object snaps. Before you contemplate your failure, Caster's voice startles you.

"Shirou, what are you doing?"

"Practicing my magic. Apparently I'm not very good at it."

"I see." Caster's face looks grim. "May I ask who taught you to practice like that?"

"My father taught me the basics before he passed. Some I had to come up with myself. Why?"

"It's just that I would like to go back in time and smack him for improperly teaching you. Shirou, do you realize you don't have to create a new magic circuit every time you want to use magic, and that every time you do so you risk death? If something goes wrong it could spiral out of control and kill you."

You nod follow her back to the house. Using your magic always makes you tired. As you lay on your futon and your eyes start to close you see Caster walk away.

"Caster, are you sure?" Saber looks shocked.

"I'm positive. Now we know why he healed so fast from his wounds from Rider."

"Will it continue to work? I am no longer his Servant."

"Although the effect will be lessened slightly as it is not a direct contact, your connection to me will overflow into him."

You see white sheets on the ground, with lumps underneath them. You almost vomit when you realize that the dead bodies of your classmates lie underneath of them.

Fuji-nee and Sakura! Your mind screams at you to search for them. You rush past police who attempt to grab you and prevent your entry. You nearly collapse from lack of oxygen from the long run from your house but you need to find them. Suddenly you see two paramedics carrying out a gourney. On it lays Taiga. She's not moving. Time slows. Suddenly one of the paramedics pulls the sheet gently over her head.

"This one's gone. Lets put her body with the others and look for survivors."

You fall to your knees in shock. Had you been here, you could have done something. Your fists harden into rocks as rage overtakes you. You kill every emotion inside you and make a vow. Emiya Shirou will win this war, no matter what it takes.

"That's a strong possibility. Although I was weak at the time, being in close proximity to Rider allowed me to sense that she has some magical potential. This field is definately dangerous, and vampiric in nature. There are probably hidden runes strewn about the area."

"That I don't know. It could take a day, or it could take minutes. I don't know the name of the Heroic Spirit that placed this."
