書き下ろしと、雑誌掲載の短編を収録したシリーズ最新作!
It's April; Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako have all become third-years. The Yamayurikai members have gathered in the Rose Mansion to welcome their new member Nana, but...!? This latest addition to the series contains a volume-exclusive story of Yumi & co in the new school year, as well as a collection of shorts that were published in the magazine!
http://www.mangaoh.co.jp/topic/maria.php

As this appears to mostly be a 'wrapping up unpublished loose-ends' type of volume, I'm not going to take it as any kind of sign that the series will continue.

Not that I personally have any reason to be concerned, since it will probably be years before I ever even make it to Hello Goodbye.

I don't really agree; if there are a bunch of miscellaneous marimite-related shorts sitting around, one might as well publish a collection of them. It would certainly make the pieces easier for someone like me to acquire, since I don't even know where one would find old copies of Cobalt magazine.

I've always wondered if there was canon material regarding "predecessor" Rosa Gigantea in any novel other than Ibara no Mori.

>> No.2822927

I was trying to rewatch the first season yesterday. This after spending the last 2 days playing Sengoku Rance.

I had to stop at around episode 3. I just couldn't stand the tension. Every scene had a 'suddenly, My Glorious Days will start playing and Rance will pop on the screen, naked, hyperweapon at the ready, loudly proclaiming his intent to rape each and every one of them' feel to it. This really messed with my head.

I believe these are the previous roses, but I'm not sure if the pic is official or fanart. That's about it.
To tell the truth, that was the first thing to give off the family chronicle vibe. Despite Super Rosa Gigantea being such an important character in Sei's life, she's actually only active for around a year and a half, and only makes a brief appearance that doesn't provide much information.

Picture you have a sort of classical society, with three noble houses. The houses are generally at peace, and conflicts are centered around keeping order from day to day. Each "lifetime" only lasts for three years - no more, no less. A queen only rules for one year - before and after which a person may not make any significant differences. Before, their fate may be speculated on and affected by those already risen. After, they are generally out of the picture, but may occasionally aid their successors from whatever better place they may be in.

Although Lilian Academy has only existed for slightly longer than a human lifetime, it has a history of over 40 "generations". There's something about the passing of time that brings a tear to my eye.

Hmm, you've mentioned this opinion before but I don't recall hearing it fleshed out to this degree. That is an interesting way of looking at the story told by Marimite.

As highschool is generally a time in which humans learn a lot about themselves and others in a short period of time, and a time in which one participates in a mini-society with a hierarchy totally different from the adult world, I can definitely agree with (and appreciate) your analogy as a description of the Rose Family system.

I would, however, be reluctant to agree that Marimite is a family chronicle as it only really follows the full initiation-graduation cycle of one generation. I could certainly see it as an excerpt from one though.

Regarding the illustration: I know that's not Hibiki Reine's art, but I don't know whether that depiction is based off official sources or not. Incidentally, I don't know the name of the artist who drew that, which bothers me somewhat. I think the attached picture is also by them.

According to jp wikipedia, there are no official illustrations by Hibiki Reine depicting the "predecessor" roses before their appearance in the anime. Even then, only Rosa Gigantea is ever shown clearly from the front; the other two are only ever seen from behind or in profile.

Through this investigation, I also managed to partially satisfy my earlier curiosity; the "predecessor" Rosa Gigantea appears two novels other than Ibara no Mori (but probably only briefly, given that no database seems to contain much information on her).

It's hard to judge after just one episode. Unless you've also read the manga. So far I haven't seen anything that would qualify as "blunt." And from what I've heard it's not a subtext manga, it's genuine yuri.

Since they added that little 'epilogue' in Little Horrors, we can hope there might be more such tidbits in the future? Even though that chapter was probably only created to sell Little Horrors, I still would like to hope.

>>2824063,4
I didn't honestly think that they'd be able to nail Shimura Takako's style so well. They even chose a way to represent the backgrounds that is in keeping with the emphasis shown in the manga (in my opinion). I was so happy at the end of the first episode that I teared up a little ;_;.
