it's good if you're into hipster-y "play it for the experience" stuff like MOTHER

>> No.2812764

is the 2nd yume nikki fan made and is the current version more stable then it was before?

>> No.2812781

>>2812764
yes, it's entirely fan made

it's pretty stable, though the most recent version is the only version I've played so I don't know if it's any better than before.

I personally find this kind of stuff to be a game killer. The whole point is to explore the game yourself rather than following a linear path and knowing where to go. Some of the stuff you won't even see unless you get lost in the middle of nowhere. I only used a guide to get the last effect. It took me longer to beat the game, sure, but I found it more enjoyable than knowing where to go and following the path.

If you do play MOTHER, I recommend getting the patch that doubles the amount of exp you get. There's a HUGE amount of grinding in that game.

>>2812835
I didn't use the guide, but I wasn't able to get far into the game because I had no idea what to do. The deathly slow walking speed wasn't helping matters.

"End game" and beating a game are two different things. You don't need to grind to beat most of these "grindan" games.

>> No.2813032

>>2813002
In Mother 1, Giygas looks like that.

>> No.2813059

>>2812835
So very, very true.

I actually kinda hate most video games. But I still love Yume Nikki. And I think that's because it's one game where the object of the game is NOT to "beat" it, but just to play it, and simply enjoy it.

There isn't much of any end game in Earthbound. You don't "need" to grind to beat the game, but getting 100% content is stupidly repetitive.

No, in EarthBound Zero Giegue looks like a humanoid bit of yarn in a tank.
He had a very nondescript sprite. A stringy white humanoid is all we see.
