Hi! First time here.

I currently got into a Japanese company (outside of Japan) with 3 months probationary period before I can get a regular salary (and during these trying times in the middle of a pandemic, I really REALLY desperately need the extra amount.)

However my boss indicated that I needed to learn more vocabulary to get it, and the sure way for me to get the raise is to get to N2 level (although the exams in my country are suspended due to the pandemic so that's another thing I have to clarify.) Last I have taken the JLPT N4 was July of 2015, and since then I have improved my speaking and listening through immersion. I was working in Japan back then so it helped me improve drastically without studying too much. But now, I have no idea where to start. Looking at online resources feels overwhelming, and I think what I lack the most is vocabulary and of course, Kanji. I currently can't afford a teacher. My boss kindly offered to buy me books that I need, but there are lots of options online and I don't know where to start. I checked "Japanese for Busy People" volumes 1-3 but most of the lessons are things I already know.

Can anyone give me any advice? For those who self-studied, how did you pick which resources to learn from and avoided getting overwhelmed?
