This is a bad book and you should feel bad for reading it.

Heroes:

Francisco d'Anconia: The childhood friend of Alice who recently enrolled into Anthem Academy after a long absence. He has a reputation as a playboy, but is that really his true self?

Hank Rearden: President of the metallurgy club. He and his clubmates have been working hard on designing and creating a new alloy that could revolutionize the world. He has a fiance, Lilith, but he actually doesn't like her.

Ragnar Danneskjöld: A foreign-exchange student from Norway who made it his mission to destroy the “looter” clubs by defeating and therefore disbanding them.

John Galt: A mysterious student who dropped out of the engineering club when it was decided that credit for any project completed would be given to the team member who needed the reputation the most.

Conflict: Anthem academy was once renowned as an elite private school that produced world-class business leaders and scholars. However, its reputation had slipped when its Chairman decided to focus the curriculum on social welfare. The president of the Student Council, Alice’s brother Jim, decided that funding should be given to clubs that were having trouble recruiting members or completing projects. Alice believes that those clubs who actually accomplish something should receive funding and thinks its not right that money raised from successful clubs should go to “looter” clubs. Alice has to reform Anthem Academy into its former glory before the cultural festival and along the way fall in love with the boys who help her on her mission.

I think I would have liked Atlas Shrugged more if it didn't pretend to be a story and was up-front about being social commentary and nothing more.

It looks like even drill-hair cannot salvage this.
