Lets look at the facts. Shirou wants to be a hero. Kamille IS a hero. Shiki helps save Japan from a couple shitty vampires, Kamille saves the Earth AND space from Paptimus Scirocco and the Titans. Rance rapes, Kamille loves. Archer is a hero, but he makes a stupid decision and becomes bitter about it as he's forced to exist in a way that conflicts with with the entire reason for making said decision.

There is the difference in scale when you are a lone guy or command a human army, and when you pilot motherfucking robots in space with beam rifles the size of a house.
