It will be just that those 3 years of Rika growing up are sort of a coma dream because Rika actually didn't solve the problem and survived. Hanyuu used wind powers besides that actually self inserted in the game and that probably was against the rules. What was not against the rules its to give Rika a dream that could give insight to a solution and Hanyuu thought that she could mature would give her more possibility to win the game once and for all. Since dreams can work similar to a Infinite Monkey Theorem into gathering information or realising new truths it wouldn't be against the rules because it could just happen "by luck" and maybe it's part of how Frederica starts to shine and getting an official title.
Summed up the Hinamizawa Syndrome whatever it is makes people have DMT trips and those false memories of other worlds could themselves be just "lucky insights" and work as warnings for people to avoid creating those realities.
Rika never escaped but Hanyuu gave Rika a chance to grow up and solve the problem with more maturity.

The problem with trying to explain what exactly is an error is that Higurashi doesn't exactly seem follow the rules of Umineko... If it did I could've said that the logic error is Hanyuu's existence in itself in Minagoroshi and Matsuri. Maybe Ryukishi wants to fix that in this anime and finally define what exactly it is.
But in Umineko, it's a contradiction in which you reach the result but can't explain the means using the game board rules. Battler is trapped in one when he says in red that he exits the room but can't explain how.

The Higurashi opening is being intentionally ambiguous.

The figure with short hair is clearly middle schooler Miyoko wearing a fancy school uniform, but it could also be Lambda somehow. Definitely not Satoko, her hair is different. Near the end Rika's sleeves become more frilly, this could be a reference to Bernkastel's dress, but it could also mean Rika is sent to St. Lucia and that's the uniform. And the hands reflectes in her eyes are either Hanyuu's or Lambda's. Everything about this OP sends mixed signals.

Its it possible... that Rika is adopted by a rich family and becomes the REAL Furudo Erika, studying at St. Lucia? We never knew Erika's real personality, only what Ikuko came up with for her troll detective. The ages kinda match as well. It makes sense that a nearly 15yo Rika would kill herself by jumping off a boat to go back to 1983 once she has enough knowledge and maturity to come up with a plan. Maybe someone on the internet figured out that the nurse was suspicious and everything clicked for Rika. The name change to Furudo Erika would make sense too if she was put in a witness protection program after her attempted assassination or didn't want to be associated with Hinamizawa (remember how Hinamizawans are discriminated against after the disaster in every arc because people from there keep killing themselves or murdering someone all over Japan).

Is it possible... that Ciconia is Lambda's origin story and the person in the OP is Jestress/Lambda instead of Miyoko? Jestress wears similar clothes to the person in the OP. Is Rika the person she wanted to meet so badly that she did all that shit in the Ciconia fragment just to become a 5th dimensional entity and travel to 1983 Japan? Will they meet in St. Lucia? Matsuribayashi and Saikoroshi are the happy ending for human Rika, the one we follow in Higurashi. This doesn't change with the new anime.

Frederica Bernkastel is a separate entity from Rika, having split off from her LONG before the Onikakushi fragment, as an accumulation of failed Rikas. We see her theorizing in the sea of fragments, writing poems and even messing with fragments to create the Matsuribayashi world. The person who talks to future Akasaka in the dojo and thanks him for remembering isn't piece Rika, it's Frederica Bernkastel identifying as Rika now that she has hope and a clear goal in mind. The Rika we follow during the story is unaware of what happened after arc 6 when Matsuribayashi starts. The whole "joining the fragments" section is experienced by Bernkastel, not Rika herself. She is the one that makes this lucky world possible by manipulating the starting conditions and variables.

Rika's true personality is similar to Bernkastel's, but less jaded and confined to a human brain with limitations on her amount of memories and the speed of her thoughts. These limitations don't exist for Bernkastel, she remembers every torture, every boring repetition of each event and can think at the speed of light like any meta creature in the series, she's not limited by a brain.

Bernkastel's personality changes a bit from Higurashi to Umineko, because she's several hundred years older, has experienced countless worlds and stories and is friends with a sadistic witch. She also doesn't think of herself as Rika anymore and drops the first half of her name. There is a section in Umineko where Lambda explains how humans that obtain eternal life become cruel as fuck eventually, when they get bored of playing nice for thousands of years. There is also a section in Ciconia where Gunhild explains that the human mind cannot tolerate eternity without becoming a bit insane, assuming you have no way of deleting old memories. All of this explains Bern's changes.

Rika has never met Bernkastel except for a weird manga page where Rika is barely conscious anyway and is simply in the process of going to the Minagoroshi world. In the VN, this scene only has Frederica Bernkastel talking to the reader and explaining how she can experience the fragments from the perspective of each protagonist (basically theatergoing power) and knows Shion's thoughts during Meakashi.

I repeat, Rika has never met Bernkastel and doesn't know of her existence. In Saikoroshi, Rika realizes that she's very different from that world's Rika and from the original Rika too, so she decides to call herself a different name fitting for a dimension-jumping body snatcher. So she chooses Bernkastel looking at a wine bottle, this is probably how the real Bernkastel got her own name in the past, in of the countless pre-Onikakushi worlds that Rika can't possibly remember due to the sheer number of them.

Saikoroshi ends with Rika deciding to drop the whole witch personality thing and live a normal life without resetting her life at the slightest inconvenience. Then, she ASSUMES that the "witch" part of her probably exists somewhere, but that's not her. She just happened to be right and Hanyuu confirms it, saying she made a new friend. This is NOT where Bernkastel splits from Rika, that happened before Onikakushi. This only means that Rika is deciding to regain her original personality and live as a human. "Creepy Rika" and "Bernkastel" are similar but not the same character. During the time of Higurashi, Bernkastel considers herself to be Rika at times in the meta, which is no longer the case in Umineko.

Everything above is just information from the Higurashi VN. From this point forward, I will be discussing theories, nothing confirmed:

This new anime is probably Bernkastel's story after the Matsuribayashi ending (she is mentioned in Saikoroshi by Rika, who deduces she probably exists somewhere, but she never appears in the story or anything. By that point she's playing around with the fragments, free of her shackles. She eventually decided to go back to being Rika in the lower plane but preserving her identity as Bernkastel, with no intention of solving a game that she's not shackled to anymore (Rika is already safe in her happy world) and that's when this anime starts. She probably meets Lambda in her human form as a teen Rika after surviving and ending up at St. Lucia (Rika stated that she could survive alone hiding in the forest until july and just didn't do it again because she wants her friends to survive too. Bernkastel isn't that attached to them anymore, so she might have done just that and survive while they go insane and kill each other).

This is where Lambda meets Bernkastel in Rika's body. She probably came down to the game to meet the new witch and congratulate her for her victory. She never expected a wish she granted on a whim to develop into a game between Takano and Hanyuu/Rika. Much less that a cute witch would be born.

First of all, the "mastermind is Miyo Takano" part is thought to be changed.
The new candidate to emerge as the mastermind here is Rika's best friend, Satoko Houjo.
There is no evidence of this.

Satoko and Hanyuu's eyes look more human in the OP, which makes sense because Bern is still attached to them. This is before Lambda and Featherine meet her and show her the path of sadism. She probably doesn't come back to any Hinamizawa fragment after that.

I think the Opening hints at a world where all of Rika's friends go insane and do horrible shit at the same time. This is why they all look so damn CREEPY. It's not a world "our Rika" visited, but rather one chosen by Bernkastel. Which means the Rika running up a hill in the OP is probably innocent loli Rika, scared out of her wits because she found something horrible. Maybe Shion murdered Satoko or Keiichi killed someone in his paranoia. While she's running into the forest, she is possessed by Bernkastel and the OP ends.

Speaking of human Rika, I always wanted to know what she's like. Hanyuu described her briefly in a TIP and also said she was already pretty weird due to Hanyuu teaching her things. I bet she never did that before her first death, so her friends probably find her really weird whenever "Rika" enters a new world and starts faking her reactions in an exaggerated way. Considering the new anime I think my headcanon of Rika is closer then I thought but we will see that later. She seems to be literally bored, I am not sure if I making up but Gou-Rika seem to try to make herself creepier then usual in terms of how she says things, the zombie tag game and something else I dont remember also had creepiness. At the same time she seems to be very serious and caring about the people and keeps patting them almost like in a religious sense by giving them blessings. Honestly, I say go for it. It would be nice to have an organized reference diagram of all the works Ryukishi was involved in. You should probably make a separate category for works that Ryukishi was only involved in to a minor extent though.

Honestly looks good enough as it is. Anything more could get more difficult for newcomers to understand. I would remove that arrow that goes from the answer arcs of Umineko and return to it, looks confusing. (Look in the lines between Umineko and Tsubasa in the chart)
