SZS was an one-in-a-kind story about psycho-social problems on it's extreme: This being made into a comedy. The characters were genuinely consistent, the humor was simply excellent: They really did everything from taking small thoughts/problems that do occur us daily, without us thinking about it or at least putting it up to discussion, to parodying conventions and having lots of references.

Regardless, I wouldn't want to see any of the listed choices as a VN. Not because they're TERRIBLE, but because they're the wrong genre. I don't play a VN for 4koma comedy, which is what you get from K-On and SZS.

I read some Queen's Blade and all I can remember is that it was unimpressive. It might be playable with a decent fighting system, but you can't rely on game systems within a VN to save the overall product.

Not really. It's easy to spot SHAFT shows because they're so different from what normal studios produce, but they still have more variation in their shows than most studios.

Also the SZS manga is far superior to the anime, and it's also more unique because it focuses on the satire and not the archetypical girls. So no, it's not just unique because SHAFT did the anime.

I never said the anime was shit but it's definitely not as good as the manga. There were a lot of jokes that I didn't laugh at in the anime that I did laugh at when I later read the manga. So either the humor doesn't translate well to anime or SHAFT just did a bad job adapting it. And like I already mentioned there is too much emphasis on the girls and fanservice.

K-On would probably work. Queen's Blade has too many cows and SZS probably wouldn't work in the format. A gag-filled VN would get tiring pretty quickly and if you remove the SZS gags from the VN, it just has a school background. At least for a K-On VN, you can shape some sort of ongoing plot.

For SZS, the gags are an integral part of it and that wouldn't be particularly interesting for a VN. If you put the gags aside if just temporarily, you wouldn't really have much story to work with since nothing is very definite (gag manga) so it's better to go with an original idea rather than borrowing SZS unless you want miniVNs.
