Instead, they go to cons and such to recruit people with the games rather than the doujins.
What they don't understand is that it's irrelevant which brought you into the fandom. There are plenty of "SUGOIII" fags on both sides, and making people play the games before you introduce them to derivative works will not make a grain of difference.

/jp/ is being ruined by a very small and dedicated subset of its userbase. The slow nature of the board and the lack of moderator activity just make the stench noticeable. Taking it easy is the best thing we can do at the moment, and I'm glad that many of us are able to do that for the most part.
