The narrative can be strange at times, a little ridiculous with some comparisons and story concepts. Still, it was a pleasant surprise when i played it. Near side in the latter half of the game is much better though. Save your expectations and just enjoy it how it is.

Its fairly enjoyable, but its very overhyped.

I'm not even really sure why either. It was a big thing back when there weren't so many translated VNs, but we've gotten a lot in recent years. At this point it seems popular because it's popular.

Because people have different tastes than you? In my opinion Tsukihime is still better than nearly all translated visual novels.

It is an excellent VN. Very engaging, complex story. Enchanting characters. The whole time I played it, I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next, I hated having to go to sleep and pause the story until I could play again the next night.
Absolutely a masterpiece and not overhyped in my opinion. Some scenes are beyond awesome and will stay in my memory forever.
It's very wordy, but never as slow as some VN, still you'd need patience to enjoy it. The art isn't really as bad as people say it is. Sure the style is distinct, and there are one or two sprites for each character where the pose looks anatomically "off", like the proportions weren't quite right.
But if you're looking for something flashy, fast-paced, chock full of sex and nasally japanese women shouting "onii-chan" through your speakers it might not be the game for you.

Nasu's writing just as good before the translation as after the translation as long as you don't read the translated version of it.

And yes, obviously the translated version is vastly inferior, but it's like that for pretty much all texts where the author's writing style is important. This doesn't matter because the translated version is only for people who can't stomach the slight time investment it takes to learn Japanese - in short, translated Tsukihime or Fate/stay Night is not /jp/-related. Whenever we talk about either here, it's implicitly referring to the original, unsullied works.

But the time, effort, experience needed and the knowledge required of the people involved along with the project itself can make this VERY hard.

KnK is a better example of Nasu's writing than Tsukihime I think. I just love the 'always in first person' style, and the way he doesn't feel the need to indulge the reader in exposition, instead he just drops you into this strange world the characters understand.

No man, Mirror Moon has it backwards. In the Nasuverse, sorcery (or magecraft) is what all the magi use. There are only a handful of people who can do Magic (Aoko, Zeltretch, etc.). Mirror Moon called Magic "sorcery" and called magecraft "magic". It's completely backwards.

It's a word that's made use for the game. It conveys the proper understanding and denotes the difference when speaking about magic or magecraft/sorcery. And magecraft/sorcery are interchangeable, but not the word magic.

Shiro or Rin don't do magic, but magecraft/sorcery. RM is close to magic, though. The term magic should only be used when mention or bring up True Magic as a comparison.
