If you have a decent GPU just flag the stream to bob and let it care care of it.

It has better quality, it's faster and you don't need to activate and deactivate it manually for interlaced and progressive material (unless the encoder messed things up).

Make sure you have ffdshow set to decode the particular codec, if it is a DVD it should be MPEG-2, everything else is usually DivX or MPEG-4/H.264.

Also, make sure to use media player classic as well
