Novice here and playing the OOMSEST version. Does anyone have any advice on how to make money in the early game while playing as a farmer?
A lot of my skills are focused around non-combat skills like gardening, so I mostly just run from town to town doing the Harvest Time quests and the occasional low rank hunting quest. It's hard to save up for a farm deed like this as money spent identifying gear or attempting to transport cargo (which just ends me getting taken by rogue bosses usually) burns through more than I gain.

Does the INIT difference ever stop being a pain in the ass for pets? I have two pets, one with ~90 INIT and one with ~220 INIT, and the 90 INIT one gets AP like crazy while the 220 INIT one gets barely any AP. The 90 INIT one is already at 400 speed while the 220 INIT one can't even afford a single AP speed boost yet. In the short term I can just stable the 90 INIT one and let my 220 INIT one get killing blows but will this eventually even out as I clear higher level dungeons? Right now I'm clearing dungeons of challenge rating around Lv.100-120.

AP gain works via plateaus, it's not a continuous curve. The 220 pet has enough to be just below the threshold for ap gain, while the 90 one is just above it.
This will even out when the 90 pet has enough ap to have equal requirements to the 220 pet. Shouldn't take too long. I assume most of the problem is the init speed, since that affects ap multipliers.

It really depends on magic device vs faith, I believe. They both scale to various amounts. I usually use rod of mana myself, since you can craft them on-demand with a carpentry kit.

By post game though, recovering mp mid-dungeon will start to feel like a bit of a lost cause. Though, I think one of the teas heals mp by a small %.

1. Have a diagonal-lock button like a lot of console roguelikes have, but I figure with a game like Elona it'd be kinda tedious.
2. Require a dpad direction to be held for one or two frames before it gets converted to an input, so you don't end up moving orthogonally because your input was 'U,UR' or 'R,UR' instead of 'UR on frame zero'. Might be annoying in some games, but for a roguelike it's probably fine.

Could also do the same thing with the analog stick, which would free up the dpad for extra input binds.

Depends on version, but in 2.00, it's probably mutant with claws, enhnacerck throw staff, and a cut stone(shurikan -> stone update). The claws will give a huge boost to damage, decent boost to defense. The stone is currently broken OP thanks to recent changes in how ranged modifiers are handled. Just fusion elemental damage enchants when you get fusion.

But just using MA and normal 2h and plenty strong enough.

Armor type doesn't really affect endgame pv much, even by act 2 you should be getting most of your pv from +15ing all your armor. It's pretty much impossible to do a low pv build, with how many things give pv. The armor skill gives up to 300(1:1), with up to 200(10:1) from dex.

Yes, even if you get the most you can without cheats, it's not enough. You'd need 10s of thousands. Even for just the normal 4 hits, it's already recommended to get 2k-4k if you want to hit that much reliably.

Additionally, every hit after the first lowers crits chance by 1/x. So the second hit has 1/2 crit chance, the third 1/4, the eight hit 1/8. Since crits are worth 3x damage, you'll be doing most of your damage with your early hits anyway.

Guns and crossbows are pretty strong and each have a way to attack 8+ times a turn. They can also proc absolute piercing now too. Otherwise, there's no real long-term advantage for the melee weapon types, since you can get 100% absolute pierce eventually, and your +damage will come from the violence feat.
MA isn't nearly as strong since you can't use multiple attacks, weapon enchants, or get +1000 weapon enhancement.

Mutants work the same as always, level up for random limb.

Just started playing in 1.90 with custom and G, are there any lower limits or penalties for using these methods to make my character really tiny? And would you please explain a quick way to get to them? It's been a few months since I played this. I remember trying to get custom music to work in e+c-g, but anytime i changed the music files out it simply wouldnt play anything. Anyone fixed ever have this problem when moving from plus to custom g? Anyone ever fixed this problem, and how? I downloaded the easy-install zip file from the pastebin for custom-g, that came pre-modded. Tried the other versions too.

If you're just starting, the best way to grind stats is doing the harvest quests. Harvesting crops trains all primary attributes except charisma and magic. Of course it will help to learn skills that correspond to the stats you want to train (tactics and weight lifting for str, negotiation for charisma, etc).

Depends on your needs, really. HP restoration does scale better than mp restoring, and mp->hp conversion of healing spells are much better than the rate barrier charges for it. On the other hand, with barrier and good stats, you might never need to heal anyway. Though, you could also just use mp restoring items like mana rods, tea, etc instead of absorb mana.

I think most late game players prefer jure (for the hex removal, more so than the hp gain) over itzpalt, from what I've seen. Or just mani for raw damage boost.

Is there a trick to like, efficiently doing pot of fusion stuff? So a weird thing has started to happen in my game - every time I finish a harvest or hunting contract, my game freezes up for like three seconds. Before it used to be zero delay to it, just smooth as butter - now, there's that pause. It's not a huge thing, but it's a little bit annoying. I did change it so that auto-turns are on the fastest setting, but it worked like usual for a while after that. My computer works totally fine otherwise, no big loads or anything. Food isn't that effective by itself. Herbed food or herbed herbs if you have spares is far more effective. Combine magic vendor potions of potential and regular breakfast cooked by a pet. Also there's guild trainers visiting your home, which requires hiring a maid.

You shouldn't do it on the overworld to reset towns though, that can mess things up. Any way we can exploit the reset for dungeons that always spawn certain items. 3) No limit, as many as there are tiles to place them on. However, you can only have 15 active breeders, so most of those ranches will be passive egg farms.
4) Quantum is best for speed, but you'll get more speed from farming herbs.
5) You can steal them from party time quests and from a certain refugee camp in act 2. Otherwise, pray to RNGesus. The embassy shops that sell furniture is the best choice, but any general store can have them.

You don't share the herbs, you use the pot of fusion to make herbed food. Then, you 'I'nteract with your pet and pick the 'let's share a meal!' option. As for south tyris, head to ruoza and talk to Leold, he's the edgy guy outside cyber dome in north tyris and he's the one that handles all the AP shit. Basically, you get AP points every time you kill something stronger and you can spend this for powerful rewards, as can your pets. One of those rewards is speed, up to a cap. It's not really worth training speed on pets until you've pumped that up to the limit, so you're gonna' need to grind some dungeons to get AP points. Make sure they're at your level or above, ish.

yeah, I scrolls of holy light to protect against it and kill the Messenger of Death. But I died thinking the scroll could cure the hex. It didn't. The dude spammed teleport before I could kill him. My problem now is Issizzle. I know you can silence him and he is pretty much useless after that, but I haven't found Mist of silence in spell or rod form. I only have 4 potions but I have never used potions to fight. I'll probably screw up.

It's many times more efficient to do herbed food. It seems like you can also direct what herb grows with the new crop management tool. I chose the first option on all my herbs when using it and it grew to be literally 90% stomafillia out of a full field, like 40 stoma and 4 others. Not sure exactly how it works, but that's cool now.
