Patrician here: does anyone have a good chart for denpa or the best albums to start with? I've listened to "We Love Akiba-Pop" and "Whoa! Hyper Denpa-chan - ARM Shougyou Sakuhin Shuu" and was surprised by how wild the production gets. Nice gem of a genre, frens.

Those two are already a great introduction to the genre. But if the production was what grabbed you, I would suggest sticking with IOSYS and MOSAIC.WAV for now, since those two are known for how detailed and layered their production is, lots of other denpa is much simpler. Let's say I haven't been visiting this thread for the last 5 years and haven't been listening to any new denpa music since then I still listen to the stuff I got on my Winamp. What albums/songs would you reccomend me to listen to from the last 5 years? My fav singer is Nanahira so I'm a filthy moe denpa listener, I still like more classic(?) denpa but it's not my first choice. Thanks to any kind anon who might answer my post.

Well in the last 5 years momobako quit and a bunch of denpa singers have vtuber personalities now, and in the past year there have been very few releases because of cancelled events, but you can start off with the camellia+nanahira releases, オール電波 from nanosize.mir, and MiracleluminalΣAKIBA-POP!! as pretty big releases.

So... listening to the album Goin, I noticed that there are two songs, one called "NANI THE FUCK" and "Senpai, notice me!"
Since when the japanese doujin scene have been taking western idioms and ideas and putting then on their own culture? I've been so out of it but I find this pleasantly surprising. Am I allowed to be excited about western otaku culture going full round trip to Japan specially after how great was the Hololive EN reception in Japan too? It feels like watching into a mirror yet finding something different while knowing it is someone else.

On a side note, after listening to ベースラインやってる？笑 I want to be hit on by Nanahira.

Well, I listened to GO-IN. I dunno man, it had an imo slow and bland start but it became better on the second half of the album. I wouldn't put it above Versus! or Force! if we are talking about Camellia x Nanahira which I'm currently just about to finish listen. I still have to listen to Play and Sleep tho. Seriously Force was so good for me from start to finish.

Mameko has some pretty denpa stuff but mamyukka is more of a mix. MONSTER CANDY FACTORY and 開廷ミラクルハロウィン裁判 are very denpa. The Al&El song they did is also quite denpa.

I think it makes perfect sense for them to become vtubers, it's kind of the current "thing". Get popular, make money, make friends, make connections, sometimes make songs, sometimes make 'em garbage, but overall it's a great way to keep an internet career going or growing. The problem being... well, just look at the archive and scroll through a couple of pages. I don't fear many things, but I'm afraid to wish for a revival of the scene without the fear of that monkey's paw curling. Probably the middle finger of it because fuuuuuuuck, man.

As it stands now, though? It's kinda just... nice. I got to watch MMBK find out about one of my favorite game series and watch her descent into loving it just like I did all those years ago, and that gave me a happiness I don't think I could put into words. Got to find out about a few other people through it, like a guy who sounds like said games protagnist himself playing through the series also, so overall I'm happy with it. As for "who became vtubers" everyone else already took the answers I'm personally acquainted with.
