How long is this game?

>> No.2624377

Yume Nikki is more of an experience, really.

Play it as a game and you'll be bored out of your wits.

Anyway, to get all of the Effects and then know what to do with them?
A fucking long time without a walkthrough.

>> No.2624381

It depends on your memory skills (and basic puzzle skills). My memory sucks and my pathfinding skills are terrible so I keep getting lost. I'm pretty sure the guide would shorten everything, but no one uses guides.

Depends on whether or not you want to wander around and see everything, or if you just want to complete it.
It took me 2 nights the first time around, I think, and I did a lot of exploring.

>> No.2624406

Really short.
Do it late tonight and make the most of it.

Also, if you have the rpgmaker2003 program, you can open up the maps and search for additional secrets (there are a few).

m/(s^2) dumbasses you can't just keep dividing out because you say meters per second per second.

It really just depends on you. If you like exploring and finding stuff on your own, then you'll have a long time to play around with it. If you want a straightforward gameplay experience and use a guide then you'll maybe get 2 hours from it or so.

My advice;
Don't use a guide, it ruins the experience of it.

Yume Nikki was fun with no guide. Just run around and do shit. Using a guide gets boring and ruins the point of the game.

Seconding this.
If you want to find things you might have missed, use a walkthrough the second time, but not the first. It'll ruin the experience.

Yeah, I only used a guide the second time to find stuff I missed. It's strange though, because no guide I've seen covers EVERYTHING in the game. I still spotted a lot of strange stuff that no guide I've read mentioned.

Also, the game is best played at late night with your lights off. Not for the scare factor, but it just really enhances the mood of the game that way.

It depends on the grouping.
(m/s)/s or m/(s/s)
You usually group left to right so by convention so it is (m/s)/s = (m/s)*(1/s) = m/(s*s)

In this thread we learn why you should always group non-commutitive operators, because nobody will be able to agree on the proper convention...

Only assburgers would argue that something is non-sense when a perfectly valid interpretation exists and there is room for ambiguity due to the limits of typing math into an image forum.

Yume NIkki is for people who like and/or want Macs. The most shallow of people, the kind who only read Touhou doujins, but hate the game. The kind who only like the first season of Higurashi. Yes, you. I feel sad for you guys.

>> No.2624897

It's a really short game if all you do is get all the effects and see a few points of interest (Monoko, Uboa, etc). Like some other anon said you can "clear" it in a few hours worth of gameplay, especially if you use the bicycle speed cheat.

That being said, it's much more fun exploring all the "dead ends" in Yume Nikki. I liken the experience of playing it to a Japanese rock garden, whereby the point of the game is not to follow a linear path from beginning to end but to observe patterns and formations in the landscape-- certain paths abruptly terminating and others meandering a long time before finally ending at an island (rock).

But I
1. Like Windows XP the most of any OS
2. Enjoy Touhous 1-9 (can't fucking stand MoF/SA's bomb system) and SWR (IaMP is too primitive feeling).
3. Loved Kai more than the first season (Takano so moe)
4. Enjoy Yume Nikki.

I couldn't stand to play this game without a map, because of the wide open looping basic areas with slow paced walking, but mostly because I got sick of being sent to that damn red maze and wandering around.

>> No.2627557

I actually beat it by using a walkthrough, and then used the super fast speed glitch to explore aimlessly whenever I felt like it. I still play it every now and again when I'm in the mood. So basically as long as you want it to be. The goal is exploring her dream world, not beating the game.
