/jp/, is it possible to inherit an allergy? I think I might have gotten an allergy to certain wines from my mother. Pic related, of course.

Also, Patchouli thread. She's way underrated.

No, I say she's rated just fine.

It's also possible to develop allergies to things you're overexposed to.

>> No.2582403

http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/a/allergies/inherit.htm

Kind of-- the commonly accepted theory is that there is a genetic predisposition to developing some kind of allergy, though what specific type of allergy they develop depends entirely on the person's environment and their exposure to particular allergens.

As for Patchy, I think she's a well-conceived but underdeveloped character. It's not really clear what she thinks about, as her sparse amount of dialogue in game gives little away about her personality. Also, I don't think I've ever seen/read anything in canon and fanon that describes the types of books she reads. It'd be an interesting topic ripe with narrative potential, if only someone would write it.

I thought there would be a good bit of appreciation for Patchy, since she is pensive, keeps to herself a whole lot. I'd shut myself in a library if I got a Koakuma to employ in there.

I did grow up near the Napa Valley, so that might explain it.

And soon you will be too, Anonymous! Oh, yes! Very soon you'll feel Komachi's fingers plucking at your skin, and then she'll take you to the river in her little boat, where you'll light little candles. What will you do then, Anonymous? What will you do when the cold horror of death steals away the warmth and vitality in your body?

I'll plead and plead and beg the Yama to sentence me to be a ferryman under beautiful Komachi...
Until I realize I'm dead and have to shut up.

When you're on your deathbed, with the last few breaths rattling from between your lips, you see her. Not close at first, just a glimpse of her bright red hair in the people surrounding you.
And then she comes close, placing a finger to your lips to still your agonized death rattle, stilling your heart and releasing your soul from its earthly shackles with a sweep of her scythe.

Many blades have been honed to their sharpest, but only Komachi's scythe is sharp enough to sever one's soul from one's body.

Wait, that's not how it works at all. Komachi isn't a Reaper, nor is she the only Shinigami. The one who will come for me in my final hour won't have a face, as they're obscured by hoods.
The Reaper will then drop me off at Komachi's bank, where I'm ushered onto her boat which I will board and prostrate myself before my god.

(Stick with Type-Moon, Arc.)

Notice that I didn't say 'Onozuka'.

Speaking from a worldly viewpoint, the shades of Death are themselves formed by the preconceived ideals that the individual in question imagines them to be.

One who fears Death greatly would see a terrifying skeletal spectre in a hood, grasping a mighty scythe.

Others might see a kindly old man, a aged crone, or a friend that had passed on before them, perhaps even a family member. Psychopomps are not limited to one form.

I referred to her because everyone here is familiar with that aspect of Death, and therefore it would hardly be a long shot for Anonymous's own psychopomp to mirror her. Such as in the case of the gentleman before me who wished to see her as his death - he may just get that wish, though I wonder whether he would be in any shape to appreciate it fully.

Considering I'm a disembodied spirit trapped within the Library of Congress, I think it's a bit late for that.

That's not how the Reapers work at all.

They're just Shinigami like Komachi. Komachi is Komachi no matter who's looking at her (see: everyone in PoFV sees her the same), so why would Reapers (who are also Shinigami) be so keen on relative appearances?

Besides, Reapers aren't so infallible. You can even fight them off, if you don't fear death. Fearing death lets them crack open a hole in your heart, so you can't resist.
Komachi describes it in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.
