So I'm cleaning dust off my figs and I think to myself "Hey, let's display Akiha without her dress. I pop off the torso, remove the PVC dress and see that coloring from the dress has smeared all over the midsection and onto part of the thigh.

I ran a slight damp cotton swab over the interior of the PVC dress and guess what: the fucking coloring is coming off. Anyway to clean off the damage without having to resort to harsh chemicals? I tried a damp cloth I used to dusting my figs but to no avail. I would rather not have to repaint the damaged areas if need be

Stop gap solution for now, I took a piece of plastic that the came with the fig and covered the affected parts with it before putting the dress back on to cover it up. I am ashamed for not treating this figure better.

>> No.2580605

Get some nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol and use a cotton swab to take the red paint off her thighs and midsection. It's not very powerful so there isn't much danger of removing the original paint.

As for preventing paint rubbing off in the future... you could either use some paint thinner to remove the paint inside the skirt where it touches her skin, or just line it with some masking tape.

You can get a dry/wet sanding sponge and sand off the paint that has stained. I have done it with my saber whose skirt is brown and whos wears white panties. It looks like she shit herself. Anyhow, if the whole plastic piece is painted and not just the top layer, it will look fantastic. Just sand it lightly off.

Also, I want to mention that this works well for cheap figures made with shiny plastic. Sanding them down gives them a more high quality look.

This coming from a guy with 100+ figures. You can trust me.

To prevent this from happening in the future you can also buy some clear acrylic Topcoat. Spray or apply it with a brush over the are of the skirts where the paint rubs off. That will seal the paint.

Will try the acrylic topcoat first. I'll also probably be making a small plastic underskirt to minimize contact between the dress and the rest of the figure. I learned a lot tonight. Thanks /jp/

Acrylic topcoat is only going to seal the stain if you dont remove it lol

>> No.2580944

You're not worthy of having an Akiha figure. Hand over both of them.

>> No.2580967

>>2580943
...

Actually, the topcoat preferably should only be applied to the insides of the skirt, which is the source of the problem.

If you're going to apply it by brush, dissolve it at a 1.5:1 ratio of water or alcohol. No need to do that if you buy a spray can. Also, for both cases you should apply a light coat, let it dry for a few hours, preferably a day, and then apply the next. Better to apply in several light coats than a single thick one. Put the skirt back 1 or 2 days after you're finished.

With this, there should be no need to put a plastic underskirt to Akiha. Such a thing is not worthy of touching her.

THEN fashioned for him the folk of Geats
firm on the earth a funeral-pile,
and hung it with helmets and harness of war
and breastplates bright, as the boon he asked;
and they laid amid it the mighty chieftain,
heroes mourning their master dear.
Then on the hill that hugest of balefires
the warriors wakened. Wood-smoke rose
black over blaze, and blent was the roar
of flame with weeping (the wind was still),
till the fire had broken the frame of bones,
hot at the heart. In heavy mood
their misery moaned they, their master’s death.
Wailing her woe, the widow old,
her hair upbound, for Beowulf’s death
sung in her sorrow, and said full oft
she dreaded the doleful days to come,
deaths enow, and doom of battle,
and shame. -- The smoke by the sky was devoured.
The folk of the Weders fashioned there
on the headland a barrow broad and high,
by ocean-farers far descried:
in ten days’ time their toil had raised it,
the battle-brave’s beacon. Round brands of the pyre
a wall they built, the worthiest ever
that wit could prompt in their wisest men.
They placed in the barrow that precious booty,
the rounds and the rings they had reft erewhile,
hardy heroes, from hoard in cave, --
trusting the ground with treasure of earls,
gold in the earth, where ever it lies
useless to men as of yore it was.
Then about that barrow the battle-keen rode,
atheling-born, a band of twelve,
lament to make, to mourn their king,
chant their dirge, and their chieftain honor.
They praised his earlship, his acts of prowess
worthily witnessed: and well it is
that men their master-friend mightily laud,
heartily love, when hence he goes
from life in the body forlorn away.
