Finally finished the UBW installation (upgrading from my Fate installation)... and it looks like my gamesaves are gone. orz

Maybe it's my unusual setup, i.e. running a Limited Account in XP. ISTR being able to run FSN with it back in Fate, and it just put gamesaves in a folder in my home directory. That folder is now gone, and the new "savedata" folder is empty. orz

Also, despite claims of not needing AppLocale, the game doesn't run without using AppLocale with Admin privileges. Game-saves seem to have to go in the program's folder, instead of the user's home directory like before.

Well, I was planning on playing Fate again for the voices, but now I have no choice, and can't skip. You can bet I'm going to back up my saves before the HF install, because there's no way in hell I'm replaying two routes at that time.

In other news, I'm not sure why they say the new installer added DVD-version support; I used the DVD version with the previous installer, and it worked fine. Maybe better, actually, considering I could run it with a Limited Account. Oh well, I'm used to having to run Admin for these games.

Actually, I won't be starting my replay till the weekend, because I still have some final tests and assignments to finish. *Goes back to studying*

What the hell is AppLocale anyway? I always just select japanese for non-unicode programs and everything works. Is this really so difficult that people have to go get a program to make their shit work? I leave it like this 24/7 and everything still displays in English anyway, so I don't see a problem. I can't even read moonrunes.

So? It shouldn't matter since Windows XP comes with a shitton of languages built in. No matter which one you use primarily, just tick off "Install files for east asian languages, pop in your disc, hit apply, let it install, then go over to the next tab and pick Japanese for non unicode. It's simple. Only an idiot needs applocale.

In this wide world, numerous languages coexist, many of them using characters that aren't present in the ASCII encoding. Yeah, really, things like accents, or even worse -God bless them- whole different alphabets.

So, when a poor little boy from some underdeveloped country wants to use his barbaric language on a computer, he had either to use an unicode compliant app (which, as you may have noticed, only exist in fairy tales) or to set his whole system to his own language for the non-unicode apps (or use applocale -when the application doesn't refuse to start using it).

Yeah, that's exactly the same problem you had when you first wanted to run a freshly downloaded eroge in moonrunes.

Now just try to imagine what happen when our humble fellow wants to fap to the very same game as you AND continue to use his barbarian language in the meantime.

tl;dr Imagine I'm Russian, living in Greece, studying French and wanting to play Clannaids. I do know I'd rather be dead.
