Sex scenes in VNs are only acceptable when the characters actually seem close enough to be having sex in the first place, instead of having some random act of sex popping up when they've only known each other for 2 days. It's also a problem when I just don't see how the guy's actions warranted eternal love forever, and endless amounts of sex.

Sex scenes in doujinshi are only acceptable when you expect the characters to act so lasciviously in the first place. You disappoint me, Koiwai. You too, Yukari.

Any one else have such problems when it comes to VNs and doujin, or do you pretty much take and fap to anything as they come? .

>> No.2553620

It was pretty much my main gripe with YMK. Half the sex seemed entirely unnecessary, and just felt forced.

>> No.2553640

H-doujinshi is h-doujinshi. It doesn't matter if it's fucking canon.

>> No.2553654

lol mana transfers.

I also laughed/skipped my way through most of the Utawarerumono H scenes.

Same here.

I'd have been much happier with a few crying/hugging scenes with Aeka instead of boring H-scenes.

On the other hand, I want Aya H-scenes.

Sometimes we forget that that the majority of VNs aren't high quality games.

They're porn games. They're fap fodder for lonely Japanese otaku. The pointless, unnecessary sex is sort of the whole point.

>> No.2553683

Depends on the game. For comedic, silly, or just general porn games I really don't care. For other more dramatic games, I mostly agree.

Speaking of doujins, I've found I prefer when they're drawn by female artists. Anyone know of any prolific female doujin artists I should check out?

Some VNs have really good stories, but the H-scenes are just shoehorned in so they can sell more copies, and thus are lower quality than the rest of the material.

I scoff in your general direction. The point of VN is porn with plot, to get the player involved enough into it. Some fail at it, giving the feeling that it's just a scene needed to tick off in a checklist of necessary HCG to call it a full game.
Take Saya no Uta. When the first scene comes around it feels gratuitous. But it's necessary to establish the relation they have. By the time you're done with it, you're crying because she's gone. That's emotional investment, and those earlier scenes are part of that.

Don't blame the medium for some companies wanting to do by the numbers products. Also, fuck you.

>> No.2553726

>>2553695

Saya no Uta is the only VN I've played where the sex scenes actually kind of suited the story.

>> No.2553731

Doujinshi isn't canon so it doesn't matter.

A lot of times the appeal of good doujinshi is that it exaggerates certain traits of characters' personalities or puts them in situations that they'd never be in originally. Doujinshi is like fantasizing about a girl you like having wild slutty sex; you might not want her to be a slut irl, but it sure is hot to think about.

In games the sex scenes can be out of place sometimes, but usually they work for me. A lot of people on /jp/ seem way too over-critical of sex scenes as being "forced" or whatever, but I almost never feel like they are...

Look at the original quote. He was talking about Utawarerumono.

>> No.2553742

I don't have problems with either one. Doujinshi aren't supposed to be canon and I haven't encountered any h-scenes in eroge that I wish hadn't been added.

Although I was playing the nurse route in Crescendo yesterday and I got to the point where they confess their love and all that, and then one of them says something like "well there's only one thing to do in a situation like this" and they start fucking. I laughed because it was kind of absurd but it didn't have a negative impact on the overall story.

What about VNs that have no porn, just plot? Are they... just not VNs now?

>you might not want her to be a slut irl, but it sure is hot to think about.
The idea of my waifu being a slut makes me feel ill.

It's actually one of the reasons that Touhou doujinshi appeals to me a fair bit. While there's a ton of porn, there's a ton that just explores different ideas and interpretations of a character. I'll fap to doujinshi here and there, but I actually feel just as bad fapping to them as I do to 3D. Sexual appeal is rarely the main reason I like a character, so it feels awkward to be glorifying that aspect of a character.

Yeah, Clannad was okay without sex. I'd say I would have liked a soft sex scene with Nagisa during the afterstory, but then again there was something really hot about the scene where Nagisa admits to her dad that she's been having sex, despite the fact that you're never shown a sex scene. Leaves it up to the imagination as to what she's like in bed.
