In the very least, it's a unique concept. Doesn't hurt the dialogue is well written and the art is great, too. My only complaint is that it's shorter than most VNs.

It depends on the VN. If you can read normal manga you should be able to read something like Clannad and other slice of life/romance/drama stuff. Saya no Uta, Higurashi, etc are a little harder.
