I'm starting to struggle with retention on new Anki cards. I've had to massively slow down my new cards/day in order to keep it up and not have shit tons of leeches.

What should I do about this? Should I just let the leeches pile up and deal with them at the end? Should I do extra reviews on forgotten cards? Start reading despite having a fairly low vocabulary (only 900 or so words)?

put leech thershold to 3 and suspend card. you will meet this word again in different context sooner or later through immersion and remine it. the moment you notice it was a suspended leech it usually clicks forever.
