This thread is about why we like Japan.

I'll start:

Japanese people are like their cars and cell phones: small and compact, sleek, good looking and a subtle exterior that hides the many facets within.

American people are also like their cars and cellphones: big, ugly and loud.

Dependence on public transportation
Technological advances
One of the few places in the world where you can go surfing and skiing within the same day
Great food
Festivals are a lot of fun
Shopping

Things I don't like about Japan:
Backwards-ass culture
They're racist, sexist, misogynist, elitist
The Japanese aren't "nice"; they're just "polite" (its a concept in their society called "tatemae" and "honne")
Crowded
Dirty
Loud
Small living spaces
Expensive
Cops and ambulances can't break the speed limit
Uses Civil Law; therefore its harder to be defended in court
Cops can hold you up to 15 days without trial
Gun control laws

As for elitism... well Japan is one of the best countries in the world and the best country in Asia (alongside South Korea).

I think their apparent elitist attitudes are warranted and justified.
