The VN is superior by the very fact that it has more routes. The anime was a little bit more playful (especially with Fuuko) so it's fine.

Pretty much this. I cried more to the anime than the VN. Anime adaptions of non-linear VNs will never be as good as the original though as they can't do all routes.

Also Tomoyo's OVA massacred my favourite (non-main) route.

It was hard for me to watch After Story. After playing it, I just could not get myself to watch it.

I think it was a superb adaptation. I wouldn't say it was better than the VN but it did have plenty of moments where I felt it was better. It also had some iffy moments which I felt were terrible compared to the source material but those were few and far between.

I liked some of the streamlining, but some things bugged me.
The first few scenes with Kyou and Tomoyo make them look like stereotypical high school snobs, but then suddenly they're best friends with Tomoya in their next scene.
How many times did they try to cram in the Dango jingle?
Tomoya falling for Nagisa out of the blue because they had the same dream.
Overuse of light/dark motif in the lighting.
Cutting to Kotomi's Hallelujah Chorus at awkward times.
and most of all,

The anime did the emotional scenes better (mainly After Story), but the VN had more dialog, scenes, humor, and routes that didn't make it into the anime.

They're both good, really. One thing I liked more about the VN was that Tomoya seemed a lot more like a delinquent. He hardly seemed like one in the anime.

-Likes the same person her older sister likes.

-She will suddenly drop her feelings for the first guy and start going out with someone she has only met once in the past.
-Even though they hadn't discussed having children yet, she pretends to be pregnant and tricks her boyfriend.
-She may have the popular knee socks attribute, but so does her sister.
-She doesn't move around enough anyway, so there aren't many chances for her knee socks to be seen.
-Getting with her is actually technically a BAD END; this is a message from the creators saying "don't go out with just anyone."
