Does anyone else have their own head-canon for the Vocaloids? Mine is slightly influenced from some japanese fanart, but I'm not big on the memes like leeks and roadrollers.

Yes this. I also kind of have my own idea of their world. Vocaloid would be a company that makes singing robots/recruits idols, and Miku is their star, Kaito/Meiko are the more experienced ones... etc etc. UTAU would be a rival company that sets quantity over quality, maybe Teto was rejected by Vocaloid first but then was taken in by UTAU to be their star girl..

I liked the idea that Kaito, Meiko, Rin, Len, and Miku made up a happy family of sorts. Kaito was the older brother figure, Meiko was like an older sister that was coy with Kaito yet not quite lovers, and the other three were younger siblings.

When they introduced Gackpo, it was too odd to be a sibling of any kind, so he felt more like a close friend. But I couldn't stand the Gackpo x Rin pairing. Blame Yume Miru Kotori for that.

Luka had the same feel as Gackpo. Always got the feeling that she and Meiko couldn't get along. I am, however, fond of Len x Luka. Even if it's only as an older sister.

If it were a series, Gakupo to me would be the slightly mysterious superstar male idol that only shows up once in a while, but gets referenced because he's popular with females. Not part of the group, (he's too busy being basically Gackt) but relevant.

Hum.. Luka is tough since I don't have a solid idea of her. Though her CV gives a sort of good idea of personality. Maybe she was recruited for a more "mature" theme. Perhaps she's annoyed because she feels she's just a fanservice ploy (whether that'd be true or not). Rin/Len would probably look up to her, oneesan type character? Gotta work on it.

I'm not too fond of the non-canon vocaloids (the look too similar to their counterparts) but Haku herself could be fun, just because she's a terrible singer, perhaps rejected by Vocaloid and took to drinking. Maybe Miku's cousin? Neru could be a cousin too I suppose, maybe never made it in because of her bad attitude. Or even better, got kicked out.

Also, I kind of imagine Kaito to be the sort of guy that acts like he's a super-cool serious bishounen, but is actually sort of easy to pick on and often ends up embarrassing himself. Meiko would be a good role model to the younger ones, and mostly mature, but has flaws like being prone to jealousy or drinking too much. She never got to be too popular herself, so it sticks.
