1. They have indeed been doing nothing for 6 months. However, after that, they have been translating pretty much all the time, and they are making progress.
2. Only applehq has stated he refuses to work on EX. In fact, I've heard hacking discussions on the group's channel, #fluffy@SynIRC, about how LBEX's encryption is different; they're already messing with the LBEX files and some of the team members talk about a possible future LBEX translation like it's a matter of course ('when EX will be translated', etc).

tl;dr: They're making progress and part of the team seems willing to work on LBEX after LB.

The protagonist is part of this special class, and has three girls who have been punished under this obligation under his care, who he must rehabilitate.

It's a really great story - not just for the entertainment value, which is excellent, but it's also a very compelling piece of social commentary.
