Key art hasn't been bad since Kanon. Clannad still had the weird chin-thing but it wasn't bad.

I liked Crescendo's art too.. Granted, the H-scenes were pretty hideous, but there were a few CGs that looked really good.

2001 as a year was mostly dominated by things like Flutter of Birds and Mizuiro, which Crescendo stands up to quite well, art-wise. The best looking games of that year are things like Sayonara wo Oshiete and Vampire Vjedogonia. In context Crescendo doesn't look all that bad at all, especially compared to commercial eroges that really do ugly compared to their peers, like Tsukutori.
