You can pseudo-pause it in a sense that you can lower "New cards per day" to 0, meaning you will only be doing reviews. Do this for a few days or until you feel like you've got more time on your hands.
For example I took a break like that when my daily reps started to take 1 hour and 30 minutes, and within a few days I was down to 30 minutes on my reviews, so after that I started to add new cards again.
And you really do get better at symbol recognition over time because I've managed to hold myself roughly on the hour even with the increase in reviews and new cards, but I'm probably looking out for another review-only pause.

I have to be honest now, after watching this vid I believe Akai Haato might be the worst Hololive. This person is too inept to be at her job, and I believe it is unfortunate that Cover corp made the error at recruiting her at the start now that the decision is irreversible

Here you can hear that Subaru slaps Haato in her house collab when her jokes went too far, this is back in the early days when they're starting to getting know each other. You can see how patience-testing it must working with Haato when it pushes even Subaru to the edge. I would have too honestly, except I would have given her a loud smack across her face to show her how to take this job seriously.
