Different anon but my take on the yasu=ikuko thing is simply put, battler can't swim, he jumped off the boat in the middle of the ocean and survived somehow with actual legitimate brain damage via drowning. He's not getting to shore on his own because his dumb ass still can't swim, so someone got him there. Only choice for that is yasu, so apply Occam's Razor and as the only possible culprit she must be it, because if ikuko was someone else, she couldn't save battler in the situation she mentioned finding him and he would have drowned.

The translation is passable but full of typos and errors they won't bother fixing. The engine feels a bit awkward and different from the original. Like, since the gameboards were actually literally fiction, I can at least see why Battler would not care that much about them after everything is over. Also, it would seem Beato just had to continue her game if she wanted Lambda's support, which was apparently vital for them to be together and have some closure, so she was more or less justified on that point. Battler kind of fell in love with her way before EP5 too so you could say her approach wasn't so bad. In terms of characterization, Shinji is a beta who doesn't have the courage to connect with others, Asuka is his mirror and likewise just one big inferiority complex and Rei's entire gimmick is that she doesn't have a fucking personality. I never felt like any of them were remotely as "real" as any member of Higurashis main cast, and I have no problem getting off to Asuka mindbreak.

Umineko is doing great considering S;G and clannad dont have that much more despite having wildly popular anime. Higurashi is pretty up there. So, I don't think characters and emotional response of the reader/artist is the problem, in fact--there isn't a problem to begin with if you look at numbers. If you want to talk specifically about "quality" then thats a different story, no way to compare and evaluate that.

Personally I think it's extremely good with how it just acts as a ghost story so far. My favorite candle so far is 'The Spirit Camera' mainly because of Takeshi and how I sorta had a situation like his. But more like I was in his shoes with taking a blame. The ending of night one is also very close to being my favorite chapter as well. I think the line, “Hi, HiganbanaAaAAaAAAAAAAAAaA, YOU BiIiiIIiiIiIiIIIIIIIIIITcH…!!!” Made it tie up very nicely. It's all around good and some parts exceed the Higurashi anime but not the novel so far.

The old soundtrack of the question arcs consists of low quality 20 second freeware loops while the updated music was composed especially for higurashi and just fits better. So there's no reason to recommend the old version to newcomers.

I say fuck both and download one of the midi remasters that people have done. The new sucks, but the quality of the old is absolute shit. Audio clips galore, 22k sample rate, god awful bitrate, soundtrack isnt normalized so some tracks are really loud and others more quiet.

Any way to install 07th Full Patch for Higurashi Hou on pirated version from nyaa? Auto installer is getting me error from pic. Manual installation (unzipping graphics, movies, voices, oldBGM, oldSE in the folder with exe and then unzipping voice and graphic patch with overwriting everything) is giving me black screen.

the whole yasu thing felt like a contrived conclusion that the entire questions arc didn't focus on so it never became a possibility to me in the first place (which is why I mentioned how reading episodically in one sitting managed to 'blind' me in a sense, being left to ponder over the latest episode is what would lead people to realize these things)

Higurashi spells out its solution to the reader and most stuff is explicitly revealed, so it's different from Umineko where Ryukishi expects you to use your precious braincells to find an answer (he expected too much from most readers).

So if you're interested in a work where no thinking is required and the solution is handed to you on a silver platter, you're gonna love it. Have fun!
