I still don't get what you're trying to say. Those 100k subs channels with 500 viewers aren't successful. Those smaller channels with lots of superchats get a lot of money but they're not well-known. Gibara doesn't stream but she's very successful because she's well-known and get a lot of business deals. Maimoto doesn't have a lot of subs but he's very successful because he has 15k stable viewers.

By default, any translator that isn't official is by definition taking something they don't own to give to the masses. So yes, but also no. It's a grey zone because on one hand you'd never know about half of your favorite artists or ever actually feel inspired to go to a Comiket/Reitaisai/what have you, but on the flip side you're on /jp/ so you're really one of the very small handful of people in an even smaller handful of people that'd feel that way so it's not really a huge upside. Aside from those who live close by and going to Japan is akin to taking a trip to Niagra Falls or London or what have you.
