at a japanese course i attended at uni they had this pretty neat method of looking up kanji by dividing them into 8 groups. for example kanji that consist of 2 seperate shapes were in group one. you'd then look them in a dictionary (made by the guy who taught the course of course, professors lmao) by adding the number of strokes of the parts that were within and outside of a structure - nichi would be 00301 for example. 0 since all enclosed kanji are in group 0, 3 since the enclosing part has 3 strokes, and 1 since the middle part has 1 stroke.

at first i thought it was kind of a scam but it works pretty well desu.

It actually opens the anki dialog box for creating cards, just with audio and subs fields already filled in. So you can still add whatever info you want.

This is how I use it.
set the time fragment and subs -> press 'e' -> copy the word I didn't understand into the dictionary -> paste the info in another field -> add my card -> repeat

I should've done recognition RTK instead of RTK. I can write kanji from just a keyword, but when it comes to recognition I often fail. Like I recognize that it's a kanji I can write but I can't connect the keyword to it because I'm used to getting the keyword and then piecing the kanji together, not the other way around. Turns out that there's a big difference. Like today I encountered 整 and I was like "wait I know that one, it's uh correct, bundle, taskmaster... What's the story for that?" and in the end I had to Google it to get to the keyword "organize" because I couldn't think of it

I can read whatever I set out to read. Reading is not really a problem of ability but of patience and it will vary by how familiar I am with the material that the text tackles. At the most I will need to look up more words I'm unfamiliar with, but reading means you can do it at whatever pace you want so I don't see the issue.
In general I'm not the fastest reader, because I spend the majority of my time just listening anyways. A lot of the reading I do is also just online on social media platforms and articles.
I mostly do Anki to remember how to read Kanji in words and less for memorizing a words meaning.
