I just finished reading upto Higurashi Minagoroshi and I have to say that was a wild ride of a chapter. I have bought Matsuribayashi already but I won't be starting until the 7th mod patch is complete.

Now while im waiting for that, I am debating whether to read the console arcs. I heard somewhere that those arcs are written by a different author (unsure if true). Are they worthy of my attention or skip and should I read them after or before Chapter 8?

I hated how people treated this part. These passages appeared before she announced her "introduction", yet Shkannontricers twist this part and they think she is denied as the 18th human. It is more plausible Beatrice can "kill" Erika - the 2nd Twilight's victims are Kanon and Erika. They are "close" together and a hint for Battler.

If there are only 17 humans on Rokkenjima, then either Shannon = Kanon or Kanon = Erika. However, if Shannon = Kanon != Erika, then Erika has simply lost the game. Her existence is not denied in any way. That dialogue remains unexplained.
Moreover, this red truth is stated "as is" - without specifying to which episodes it applies.
With Shkanontrice, there are only 16 people on Rokkenjima in episodes 1-4.

Why do Shannon and Kanon have to fight each other in the love trial? Why do we never see them together? Why is Kanon Beatrice instead of Yasu/Sayo/Shannon, which makes more sense? Why does he care so much about the man his "sister" fell in love with, who he himself never met?

I've seen many people/websites rate Umineko higher than Higurashi in all aspects. Its not true right? Umineko may have the advantage in terms of illustrations and soundtrack, but the writing in Higurashi is undeliably superior. From the setting, to the atmosphere and the character interactions, Higurashi is slowly and meticulously crafted and we get to see each character's deepest secrets and fears. A story of human friendship and the bonds between flawed people.
Umineko is just 'lol bombs in food' and 'magical waifu spikes' levels of bombastic action and the equivalent of a hollywood CGI movie in my opinion. Not to mention how the answer arcs in Higurashi were satisfying and revealed a different side to all the characters. Umineko answer arcs were a dissapointment.

why this?
because people think that Battler love shannon

in short 6 years ago Battler and Yasu fall in love but thanks kinzo their relationship had to be secret
so Shannon help them
battler made people think he loved shannon so that kinzo wouldn't find out about yasu.

Alright I need some help figuring this out. So we can assume that Umineko is split into two different "truth worlds". One being where fantasy and magic exists, and the other being reality where it doesn't. In the fantasy world, Beatrice is a 1000 year old female witch, and Shannon and Kanon are all separate people. In this world, Beatrice doesn't have a cursed body.

Now in reality, Yasu is all three of them and because of their fall, they have a mutilated body in which whatever gender specific sex organ they had was severely damaged to the point it caused them to hate themselves.

In Episode 2 (which takes place in the Fantasy truth world), Battler is forced to undress Beatrice to nudity and put on her clothes for her to humiliate him. In this fantasy world, Beatrice has a perfectly normal female body.

So my question is, the ending of Episode 8 where Beatrice chooses to commit suicide, that takes place in the Fantasy world right? One of the reasons she wanted to commit suicide was because she didn't want Battler to see her "cursed body". But that body only exists in the reality where magic doesn't exist and she is actually Yasu. And in that fantasy world Battler had already undressed her to nudity and there was nothing wrong with her. However if this IS the reality where fantasy doesn't exist and Episode 8 ending is just Yasu dressed up as Beatrice, then why do Battler and Beatrice have chemistry together? Their relationship only makes sense in the Fantasy truth world. Her cursed body and their relationship can't be in the same reality. I'm just confused on this.

Well if you account for normal vn readers, Umineko is still more popular. Hell, it has over 2000 more votes than Higurashi on VNDB. Umineko also has had more fan art.

The reason the Higurashi anime is getting a remake is because the first one did fairly well because of the moe/gore psycho cuhrazy shifts and because the Umineko anime was really shit. Remaking Umineko would be a gamble. As for "Umineko gets nothings", ofc Higurashi would get a remake first? They might remake Umineko afterwards if they're successful, who knows. But go off I guess.

The truth about Kanon. He is the one loving entity on Rokkenjima. The only concept that truly loves and knows humanity the world over, before the cold logical cruelty of AI, yet after the arrogant hubris of fairy tale creatures. Something all humans have faith in. Sweet, but with enough bite. Comforting, but not intoxicating. He is... an anthropomorphic manifestation of Coca-Cola.

I thought Jessica was alive because the narration described her as a gruesome corpse, not as being killed, so I thought she disguised herself as a corpse just like others did in past games. George and Maria lied about her death, so those two must be culprits too. There's no way George isn't the culprit because he says "no one could kill Nanjo inside the guesthouse" so this seemed even more true to me. If so, he can lie about Maria not being able to kill anyone.

If you're going full goat (or accepting the manga as canon), then the events should be generally equivalent to the events of EP7's Tea Party, possibly with some differing minor details. In which case, Yasuda was not killing anybody, the epitaph was solved before the First Twilight even began. They just left the opportunity available for the adults to begin massacring each other over money, as predicted.

I knew from the beginning that someone could escape from the dining hall before the seal was placed, and that they could kill more people later to fulfill Bern's red truth, but since Nanjo said "No one examining the bodies would reach the wrong conclusion" I assumed they all had died. I kept going around Kanon's death like a idiot because who else could kill Jessica but someone whom Nanjo didn't confirm? The red truth about his death was very vague too.

All I had to do was ignore Nanjo's purple statement in the first twilight and everything started aligning up pretty quickly. I'm sure the explanation will be something dumb like "those bodies weren't their bodies" or "that won't apply to alive bodies". Anyways, I feel like an idiot now for thinking too much about it.

I've been trying to think of Umineko differently in terms of board games other than chess or DnD.

Like, they say to equate it to chess, with a human side and witch side, but Jessica and George are able to kill each other in episode 4. Even if you're a shitter like me who falls for Fool's Mates, Swindles, and bamboozles all the time, you can't take your own pieces in chess, it's an illegal move. So maybe that means in episode four they're on "different sides?"

But maybe it's a game of checkers. Multiple people can die at a time in Umineko, while in chess, your "move" can only ever eliminate one piece at most. Furthermore, while it's true that, say, ALL remaining players dying at once could be symbolic of "checkmate", there are times when just two people die at once. When you play checkers, you can take multiple pieces in one move, provided the conditions are set for it.

Like chess, Checkers provides and empowers an "upgrade" to those who fulfill getting to the "end of the board", so to speak. So any "Evatrice is just Eva solving the epitagh is her going from a pawn to a queen" comparison applies.

But even in checkers, you can't "jump" over your own piece.

I've considered Othello, since in Othello the pieces switch sides constantly - we have a scene where Kanon dies and then "resurrects" on behalf of the magic side. Jessica does something similar - she "dies", and comes back in service of Beatrice, but not as explicitly hostile.

However, in both cases, before we go all Anti-Fantasy, Kanon's "possessed corpse" dies, and the "resurrected Jesssica" dies. So I guess if I'm going in on trying to understand a model of a board game, it has to be one that allows three states for each piece. One state serving one side, one state serving the other, and that of being removed from the board.

The shortstory Ryuks wrote about the cover is all about Miyao being uncomfortable with this situation while Beato and Rena creep on him. The other characters aren't the focus of the story, so their troubles are played for comedy and then dropped, just like Keiichi bringing up Satokos dead parents during a club activity is never explicitly brought up.
This is what Ryukishi always does.

I guess I'll ask this here because some of you might have bought Umineko or Higurashi on Steam. Meaning you have Steam accounts.

Have you ever used the Steam Workshop to download mods for a game? I need to know how it works before I waste my money. How do the mods work? Basically, I want to download the Workshop mods for a game, but I don't want to buy the game. Or rather, I don't want the Steam version of the game, so I pirated it to be free of DRM bullshit. If I buy the actual game on Steam, can I use it to get the mods and then use those mods on my pirated copy? Or are they somehow stuck on the shitty Steam copy?

Thank you and sorry for the off-topic. I just need to know how this shit works before I waste my money,

You can use steam workshop mods on non-steam games. Just find the mod you want to download and toss it in here: http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/
It will download a zip of the mod and you just extract it and put it where it needs to go according to that games modding structure.
With this, you don't even need to buy the game on steam to download the mods.
I used this for using workshop mods on my GOG copy of Divinity Original Sin 2.

>> No.24141893

>>24141843
How steam workshop works differs on a game to game basis. Generally, subscribing to a mod on the workshop and then opening the game with steam will download the mod somewhere, and if the devs did their job that's all you have to do. From there you can probably do whatever you please with the mod's files once you find where they're stored.

But to save you the wall of text, the workshop is fairly benign. It's generally on the game's end whether or not mods are behind a DRM wall.

>You can use steam workshop mods on non-steam games. Just find the mod you want to download and toss it in here

I tried to use this site before:

https://steamworkshopdownloader.io/

But it doesn't support A Hat in Time.

I spent hours downloading shit from this one:

http://steamworkshop.download/

But it turns out that half the shit I downloaded was outdated, because the site doesn't keep up with mod updates and only links to an old database or some shit, so I had to delete everything. It also fails to download less popular mods because they were never in their database.

Is there any other way? I thought about caving in and buying the damn thing on Steam, but I hate DRM. I would be glad to support the game with my money, I just don't want to be stuck with DRM crap, which is why I pirated it in the first place.

How does the Workshop actually work if you buy a game on Steam and download mods for it? Can I just ignore my non-pirated copy of the game and simply use it to download mods for my pirated version? Or does Steam do something weird with the mods that prevents you from using them without it?

Again, sorry for asking. I'll delete this after I get an answer, thank you!

>> No.24141937 [DELETED]

>>24141893
Oh, I get it. So the mods themselves have no DRM so I can do whatever I want with them? Can I just buy the game, NEVER touch it and simply use it to access the mods on Steam, which I then apply to my pirated copy? I want nothing to do with Steam beyond accessing the workshop, I don't even want to play my purchased copy of the game.

>> No.24149251

>>24148874
Why do they hate trannies? I think the story makes it pretty obvious that Yasu is no tranny anyway. But even then, being a tranny shouldn't be a reason to hate a character. It can come off as stupid/pandering if the condition is romanticized and genital mutilation is treated as a good thing. But I understand why seeing a tranny character can raise red flags, since it usually means the author is one of these assholes or a cuck who felt threatened by the tranny mafia and was more or less forced to be openly "inclusive".

I hate trannies because 99% of the ones I've personally interacted with are terrible human beings with god-awful personalities and extremely SJW (the puritan type too). And this appears to be the norm rather than the exception. So I hate them and want nothing to do with them, until the day I meet a good one. But I'll be justifiably wary of them by default and assume every tranny I meet is a despicable individual. It sounds like the type of thinking that leads normies to irrationally hate pedos, but it's not the same thing. I've actually interacted with the damn trannies and have dealt with them online. I'm not hating a made up boogeyman, I'm hating the real thing for justified reasons.

TL;DR: I only hate trannies because the overwhelming majority are insufferable pieces of shit and dreadful human beings. I don't hate them for "being" trannies, regardless of my opinions on the subject.

When I bash on the Yasu interpretation of events and call Yasu a tranny, what I am really saying is "I can't view Yasu with the tragic weight Umineko demands from me if her motivation truly was to slaughter a bunch of people in a murder ritual to obtain a body that is capable of love."

My presumption being love having to do with fertility, bearing a child, having the ability to copulate with Jessica or George or Battler.

But if "a body incapable of love" means Yasu is incapable of not being a manipulative, sadistic, evil person unless she pins her hopes on a magical murder ritual, then, well, there are several issues, beyond the paradox of needing to commit evil to become capable of becoming good.

More like a forced mass suicide. I mean actually Yasu has quite a few motives. She believes the family is cursed and has no chance at ever being happy, she being the worst of them all, so they'd be better off dying. She totally wants to get revenge against half the cast for ruining her life. She wants to put on a show for her bestie Maria (who, of course, she thinks she's mercy killing, since she'll never be happy with a mother like that anyways). She wants Battler to solve her crimes (hence the format), understand her and stop her. Of course she'd be fine with it if it was Jessica or George who realized who she was, loving her for real and making her stop. That's why they usually live for so long too. Hell you could easily interpret George and Shannon's death in EP2 as the direct result of a confession gone wrong.
I mean I could understand you disliking all of these reasons, but obtaining a body that is capable of love was NEVER a reason. Not having a body capable of love on the other hand, yes, that's the most glaring problem. Because of that condition she sees herself as having no future, wants to kill herself instead of confronting the cousins, or the adults, or any future at all, and ends up reaching the mass murder conclusion, etc. But she doesn't actually believe she can fix her body. Beatrice literally doesn't believe in magic.

I think I got why Shannon is the optimist and Kanon is the pessimist one - because living as Shannon means still having a chance for Battler to remember about her, while living as Kanon and 'killing' Shannon means losing that possibility.

It's the reason Shannon says she'll marry George and forget about Kanon in episode 6, while Kanon says he will remember her even if he abandons the island.

I honestly think Shannon is the "optimist" one because she is the most fake. Kanon is probably the more Yasu-like: he knows life (his life at least) is shit, he throws shit at everyone for being shitty (in his mind anyways), he knows he should be a man but not only he physically can't (in his perception), he doesn't even know how to "act" like a man.
On the other hand Shannon can pretend everything is fine way more easily. For the moment at least. She was raised as a girl after all, she just has to pretend nothing has happened since then. All negatives thoughts go to "Kanon", so she can believe in love and whatever, even if Battler isn't there, George is. It of course ends up being even more of a dead end though, because she's lying to herself.
Since Shannon is like that, she has to forget Kanon and everything about her past to keep on living. She can't be the perfect waifu otherwise. Kanon on the hand would be able to move on without lying to himself and without throwing against his past, or Shannon.

The golden butterflies exist, just like the Hinamizawa disease. And there's a high chance that they're the main reason why you can't enter the forest (it's full of them).

My theory:

1. Golden Butterflies enter and reanimate corpses - and impersonate the host by reading its memories. This would explain the Kanon vs spiderweb scene. They can also make living humans hallucinate with their dust. They don't affect chapter 1 that much, but they completely mess chapter 2 up by creating zombies and demons.

2. Considering the golden butterflies are not strong enough to kill humans, there IS a mastermind, who is possibly trying to copy the riddle's twilights. Why? Maybe hate towards the Ushiromiya house - maybe to force them into solving the riddle.

3. The Riddle can not be solved without travelling into the forest. This is why no one has been able to solve the first few step yet.

4. Just as Maria said...Beatrice 'exists'. There are three things Battler must do before Umineko ends:
-prove that magic does not exist by solving all closed room riddles
-solve the witch's riddle and find the gold
-unveil the true villain without allowing anyone to die

Reading /jp/ threads from the years when Umineko came out, a lot of people were suspicious of Jessica, maybe because she knows both Kanon and Shannon well. But that doesn't come up very often anymore.

Dare I mention When They Cry 5? The scene with the bodies being hung on meat hooks and processed was pretty chilling even by Ryu07's standards. Speculation feels arrogant at this point even though it's clear they're uploading people to "the matrix", but dang that was spooky.

vague speculations:
There are a few references to "being free from this world", and "flying beyond the horizon". I suspect there's some kind of moon base or space station where maybe the "opponent" is. I'm sure at some point they will fly into space as it's shown the gauntlets can protect you from extreme cold.

The rune words that are shown in green at the top and bottom of the screen are passages from revelation.

The gauntlets leave white feathers in the air. This symbolizes angels, so are the gauntlet knights the agents of "god"? Does that mean there is also a "devil" or "anti-christ" the figure from revelations?

One of the three kings mentions he has a biological child.

I feel like there's possibly a sinister side to Spiritium. Using it gives off ammonia, which is nitrogen and hydrogen.

Toujirou's order is the "Order of the Wisteria.
>Historically, Wisteria symbolizes long-life and immortality.
>In Japanese Kabuki theater, the symbolism for the Wisteria is Love, Sensuality, Support, Sensitivity, Bliss and Tenderness.

Her main motive for the killings is committing suicide. She can't even bring herself to activate the bomb and go to sleep. She needs to kill at least one person to guarantee her life is ruined beyond repair and give herself courage to die. Otherwise, she'd keep putting it off knowing she can still procrastinate for another day.

It's interesting because this same idea in reverse is what set Shion off in Meakashi. She accidentally killed the grandma and fucked up her life, so she had nothing to lose. She kinda went insane from the realization and decided to act out her revenge plan. She would've never done any of that shit if Oryou hadn't died by accident.

Shion and Yasu are very similar characters in many ways, when you think about it. Except one is trying to fuck up her own life to make suicide less scary and the other accidentally gets herself into that situation and snaps.
