Started reading 果てしなく青い from the start to do the next route (based 悠夏) and I discovered that the game had another fucking continuity error. During my first playthrough the protag reminisced about his dad telling him not to miss "that moment", which I thought was just said off camera or something, but it turns out that the protag's dad does say that in an another early branch (which doesn't affect route choices).

The TV example was also a case of that, in another branch the protag was pretty happy at home watching TV when he had to leave.

Played the new Eushully for 5 hours or so. It's shit.

1) Extremely aimless plot, the paper-thin edgelord protagonist literally decides "hmm it's time to conquer" and then starts wandering around collecting monsters and skirmishing with angels. This is the whole plot for hours.
2) As hinted at above, paper-thin characters. It's Eushully so this is to be expected, but I decided to mention it anyway. Also, I do think Grasetsa had better than average characters for Eushully so it's a regression from that.
3) Linear stage progression with no classic Eushully basebuilding or any kind of non-linearity outside of some side events that get unlocked periodically. Instead of a satisfying gameplay loop where you gradually power up you're constantly forced to push forward. Which I dislike because...
4) There's no replay maps to get stronger, so each map has to be exploited for its resources in full, which leads to a lot of tedious play. Do all of the battle objectives or you'll never get that item. Pick up all the treasure or you won't get any more consumables. Capture as many enemies as possible to get EXP while you can etc. Optimization can be fun, but when all the things you're doing is tedious busywork, it sucks to be forced into it. Even capturing enemies is tedious since it's mostly just attacking them with attacks that do no damage before moving onto damage.

Overall this game is really bad, no redeeming factors outside of okayish presentation and I guess Eushully production values art-wise.

You gotta go quite a bit back to get to the point, where nothing was available and not even the bonus exp system existed. For good reasons.

That said, Fire Emblem isn't THAT bad, because of how EXP works, and how there's little rpg elements.
A game like Eternal Poison is a better comparison. That game is minmax central, including capturing monsters for more resources and the likes. People got regularly stuck, as the game is really punishing, and if you don't abuse, you can forget beating certain bosses. Enforced minmax however is just bad. I'm sure some people like it, but very commonly you don't ever get told "hey, make sure to minmax" in those games, and people learn by getting stuck with no way out, or in the less bad case just extremely tedious as enemies get too tanky, as you have not enough damage.


That said, Eushully makes bad games. Duh. This time it's just bad in a direction it's harder to deal with. Broken economy? Makes things just easier. Grindy as fuck? Just grind. This time you gotta minmax or you are out.

Now, believe me, I understand the sentiment. But the devil in the details here. Eushully gameplay itself has rarely been good, and usually it's propped up the game surrounding it. Even though, say, Kamidori and Amayui's SRPG gameplay was mediocre to bad, the base building and such provided a compelling reason to keep playing. Conquista, on the other hand, has nothing. You have bad gameplay and that's it. The fight themselves aren't fun, and exploiting them for resources isn't fun, it's just work that slows the battles down even more.

1. Recruit fucking everything you can. Spam Lily and Helmina's recruit skill like no tomorrow. 3. Caster Angels have an ability where they get a free attack if they're next to someone that's doing an attack of their own (And are also in range of the enemy). Tons of free damage if you abuse it.

Also items, use them if you get stuck.
