So here's a question great one, my confidence comes mainly from experience. I however do not have confidence in approaching women namely because past experiences have always ended up with my foot in my mouth.

You'll often come to find that most people aren't that shallow. If you're limiting yourself to how you define yourself in terms of looks then you aren't going to find anyone for the rest of your life. Period. This applies to anything in life really.

It's not the circumstance that's fucking you over, it's yourself. You just want that circumstance to be your convenient excuse. That's not to say charge straight ahead without thinking, but you're not even trying to get the things you want done in life. Particularly in areas where you have no confidence in.

Experience and power might be appealing, but that's merely a bonus. And if you're associating with someone who prioritizes that at #1, then you don't want to be with someone as shallow as that anyways. That person should be with you for who you are as your totality (looks, personality, chemistry and commitment), not for superficial reasons like the things you mentioned.

I like that way of thinking, i really do, but my own observations lead me to believe more often then not that is simply what people wish for and not what they are willing to do.

A lot of guys I've noticed develop their first real confidence around 17 or 18 with their first girlfriend.

That didn't really happen with us though, so we're kind of stuck up shit creek without a paddle. I take that such thing as confidence along with positive self-image comes with positive interpersonal relationships. Whether anyone would like it or not people procreate themselves via others. And being able to successfully complete such developmental task naturally increases your confidence (sadly, you are not up to it, loser. a friendly reminder :). Actually, I think it is more like having any kind of positive things in ones life that help one build itself as a positive character. But I see that such person as you focuses on lack of romantic relationships so much that he has lost all of the threads.
