Risks splitting the fanbase but that's probably the best solution. Or they can do what PAD has done and gradually update their systems to keep up with modern trends. If the framework is solid, they can probably add features instead of re-doing it from the ground up. No idea what their codebase is like though; might need a re-write to support features if it's sloppy. The stageplays are quite literally what's more or less keeping tkrb alive desu, but as somebody who really doesn't care about 2.5d shit I really would wish they did something in terms of proper characterization or a story within the actual game.
Swords had such a nice concept and nicely designed swords (still does to be fair) but being stuck in early 2015's kusoge format just really puts you off. I can't imagine going back to it at all anymore.
What's worse is that despite being a barely playable game, from what I've seen they've amped up the grinding and that's pretty annoying.
It makes me sad that tkrb still has plenty of potential but the devs are too stubborn to move on from that old kancolle formula and make it actually feel like an interactive game.

Nice route but I knew this ending was going to be rushed. Another route with a whole bunch of padding until an infodump right at the end leaving you (and MC) out of the loop. ANOTHER route where the bad guy revealed himself at the end making the whole process of tracking him down feel like a waste. Getting real sick of how in almost EVERY route the climax involves MC or whomever getting kidnapped to move it along. Also getting real sick of this:

It's so fucked up how these supposed law enforcement keep setting her up for missions but not tell her all the details so she gets shot at or has to break through glass and run around bleeding. I know that police are shitty by default but I'm going to start hating them at this rate. It's a shame that the story had to be wrapped up with this rehash. It needed another episode of Hiyama and Matorichan working together, to show how he trusts her, and to give the case proper closure instead of an offscreen text dump.

I think the only route so far with a satisfying conclusion was Maki's. And maybe Kirishima's too, though the climax was kind of dumb for other reasons.

Not sure if anyone has played Kintouka since I've never seen anyone mention it and only found it by chance on vndb, but I just finished all the good ends (there's still bad ends I gotta get through though). It was really fucking long for a game with only 4 routes but it was pretty good. Having just finished it, I think I felt like there'd be more to Tsukasa's route than there actually ended up being though I am glad they actually let him die at the end, a cop out would have felt totally against any themes about grief and moving on the game was supposed to have.

It was really wholesome for a BL game honestly, all the ero scenes were like missionary position sex with the characters saying they love each other. I've not done many bad ends yet though (I left them until afterwards because they would have made me too sad if I had read them at my max investment) so there might be something fucked up in those I haven't seen yet.

None of the boys do anything wrong except for Munesada, who is not even really that bad for the character type he is. Why is it always dependable-seeming big brother types? But in general, I was surprised how nice and loving they tended to be to Souta because I am used to abuse-fests with joseimuke VNs, especially when they're R18 (alternately they have hardly any romance content at all and leave all that stuff right until the end). Souta was a qt and it was nice how deredere he was to his love interests also.

Everyone sure does cry and hug and talk about their feelings a lot though. I don't even think people are this open in the western country I'm from. Pretty sure like every character gets multiple crying CGs.
