TL;DR: Our con scene is shit.
Half the good cons died out, with their "replacements" being less focused on anime than the originals, while the other half aren't heavily advertised out of their state so unless you know what to look it up, you won't even know it exists.
On top of that, it's both more expensive to bring in Jap seiyuu and they're less commonly known than their Dub counterparts, so the con organisers have to decide between bringing in a couple of Japanese seiyuu (with dedicated fans yet less mass appeal) or bringing in dub "actors" (that every basic bitch knows at least one role they've been in)
For some godforsaken reason they also seem to think that bringing in "professional" cosplayers as guests is a smart thing. Like, if you had the choice between meeting a seiyuu and a cosplayer, who would you actually want to meet?
Basically, we're a shit country and it's better to just save up money and keep an eye out for international events with seiyuu you like than hope for something to change here.

SMASH is what I consider to be THE Australian anime con, but it's still part of the second half of the old/good conventions. It exists but outside of NSW, I have found very few people who know of it, even if they say that they're dedicated seiyuu fans who would've loved to have met certain guests.
It's certainly gotten bigger and better over the years, but it still suffers from the lack of advertising that things like Supanova, Oz Comic Con (puke), and even whatever new harebrained convention Madman have come up with this decade (Supanova and Madman even "sponsor" the con, which gives them more advertising).
The sad part is that the chances of it being the Australian equivalent of things like AFA or Anime Expo are slim to none, because it just doesn't have the same sort of reach that those do. Still, it got anisong last year so we can only hope it gets it again for 2021.

A few months ago someone posted on tik-tok a half a decade old clip of a livestream with Ishikawa Kaito, Aoi, Taketatsu, Yui and Maaya and tried to frame it as Maaya being bullied/ostracized by other girls.

Considering we already have a frame of reference of when Nakamura and Uchida co-starred a show and had negative amounts of chemistry together, it's more likely that it's just Maaya being awkward and Kaito and Aoi trying really hard to salvage the livestream.
Also this ignored the fact they also recorded a radio show together and there were zero issues, or that Aoi and Maaya appeared on other events together and were fine with each together.
