Hey /jp/
Why do you and /a/ care about tripfags so much?
Other boards like /g/ and /v/ don't seem to care about them at all unless they are blatant trolls.
But on /a/ and /jp/ merely posting with one is sure to cause drama.

It's really quite simple.
By establishing an identity a tripfag opens a tracking account. Most tripfags fail to build up any goodwill by contributing anything. Because they are not distinguishing themselves by merit their name serves no purpose beyond the ego. Over time they do stupid shit and build resentment instead.
Original content and collaboration on this board is minimal. You could translate, provide sources, or provide some other entertainment. Not much opportunity to distinguish one's merits, so tripfags on average are a detriment.

>> No.2364430

>>2364419
But is there any reason to just blindly hate tripfags in general?
It's kind of silly to see people complaining about them constantly when shittier boards like /v/ have no problem like that.

The tier lists were for trolls and idiots like Donkey Kong, Walter, Lanced Jack, etc.
Any other tripfag was on the same level as Anonymous posters.

>>2364429
But that doesn't explain why other boards don't seem to have the "tripfags are cancer. sage sage" drama that /jp/ and /a/ have.

>> No.2364453

>>2364436
I also find it odd since when I compare Anonymous posts to posts by tripfags they don't seem to differ that much (with exceptions of course. There are always truly attention whoring tripfags like Taiko Drum Master)

>>2364453
To expand on the first part of the post, I've also heard it been mentioned that if tripfags got rid of their trip they wouldn't be a problem.
Not to mention people think forced anon will solve anything to do with attention seekers (who would just find other ways to have identity)
So I think the tripfags being worse posters is nothing more than a delusion.

Some tripfags get super butthurt and go "Y U NOT LIEK ME ;_;" when Anon trolls them.

I just troll them right back when I choose not to ignore them. /jp/ isn't really prepared for me, especially since I can start 200-reply shitstorms with a snap of my fingers.

They're also generally speaking larger boards. If /jp/ had forced identities we'd wash out into a limited number of users. Even with anon you can recognize some people. A sin I'm probably guilty of.
Add to that that most threads here are opinion/faction based and you end up with forum cliques and people circle-jerking each other's opinions. The element of uncertainty helps balance arrogance in discussion.
I don't know about you but getting away from that shit is why I'm here.

Here, let me rephrase for you what you just said.
>>/v/ has no problem with tripfags like you do. They are also a very shitty board.
Ball's in your court.

Myself, I don't particularly enjoy the concept of tripcodes, but I tolerate it to a low extent. I have respect for certain, few tripfags that contribute something concrete and palpable. Meiling/China (I don't remember or care, these days) for example contributes doujins scrounged off of Share and so on, and thus contributes.
I might prefer to see him/her do it anonymously, but when your repository is so large and it becomes necessary to archive it, it becomes sort of necessary to identify yourself to the board so people know where, for example, the mediafire link comes from.
On the whole though, I see tripfags as an egotistical, attention seeking group of board detractions, full of an inane sense of self-worth and entitlement.

But that's just the opinion of this Anonymous.

>> No.2364475

I think a lot of us actually don't mind tripfags. The ones who are so extremely anti-tripfag are probably a vocal minority. After reading many long-winded rants I've come to recognize the writing styles of a couple of them, and it's always the same ones who start arguments with tripfags.

Either way we aren't nearly as bad as /a/ because people rarely do that stupid shit where they quote the tripfag's name and sage the thread (probably because most of us know how sage works).

>> No.2364476

Why aren't people allowed to post with names?

It's funny that a lot of /jp/ feels you need to contribute something worthwhile in order to validate the fact you are using a trip. If I post in /jp/ with a random name / trip, it makes no sense that I would be doing it for attention unless I love being called "faggot" all the time.

People who actually contribute things AND use names / trips are the real attention getters because they just want everyone to recognize / thank them as often as possible.

Well we already have some of that going on, even without trips, but it's obvious that having trips makes it much easier.
As for me, I don't really care too much about trips, circle jerks, trolls, etc.
I just keeps bothering me that so much drama is being shot up around them that could be avoided just by ignoring them. Infact I'm sure ignoring the attention seekers would make them less of an annoyance.

>>2364474
Well I can see what you mean,
The only reason you'd have a trip in the first place is to have some sort of ego stroke, unless you are doing something like Katawa Shoujo or a translation, where it helps to make sure people know you're giving real info and what not.
But I don't see why people need to care so much that there are egotistical posters. Just complaining about them probably gives them the attention they want so much.

Why would you do something like Katawa Shoujo or a free translation for total strangers on the internet? Here's a hint: ego stroking.

This is also why fansubbers are drama queens.
