tell me /jp/, what was your first Visual Novel? and how did you fin out about it?

Mine was "Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel", found out about it on an Eva fansite, played it without even knowing it was a visual novel, found out a year later what it really was. Not bad actually.

I hate to say it but I think my first Visual Novel was Time Traveler Mako.

Not exactly a great launch point but it worked out in the end. That might not even be the first but that's how far back my memory goes.

Radical Dreamers when it was partially translated. After that was a really old game called Atlach=Nacha. I found it while I was looking for online Lovecraft short stories and looked into it more and got pulled in because the music is awesome.
This was around the time I wanted to try Tsukihime when Mirror-Moon was only at 2%. Oh how time flies.

Tsukihime. I found out about it because I was going to play F/SN after watching the anime but when I went to mirror moon's website and found out that it wasn't fully translated I decided to play Tsukihime instead. I had never heard of it prior to then so it was very surprising when vampires and shit started popping up.

Same. Except my waifu was the vampire chick Sari. More games need to be like that nowadays. Sure people rage about walking around the place in order to get events, but I fucking LIKED that. VN's these days need more innovation.

Man old school VN's were so awesome. Now they're pretty much all click, click, click. The storys are MUCH better but they lack challange.

Pretty much what you'd expect. The anime was awesome, heard the game was in english, played.

That soccer club slut has a special place in my heart. I mean, all the rest of the girls have you jumping through hoops to get them, but she just shows up half way through the game, declare her love for you and bang, tender love.

Fate/Stay Night (Yeah, yeah, but we all gotta start somewhere).

I found out about it in a remarkably roundabout fashion; an AMV using both the anime and, though I didn't realize at the time, the VN, just impressed the fuck out of me. So I asked a friend, and he said to watch the anime ("It's a bit slow, though." "I watched- and loved -the entirety of GITS:SAC" "Oh, you'll be fine then"). After watching it, I recommended it to a friend, who took it one step further and looked it up on wikipedia. He discovered the VN, downloaded it, and burned me a copy.

I thought, and still think, it's pretty damn awesome.

But she was just a slut that wanted you in the Soccer club. And at the end of her route you actually DO join the club and I think if i'm remembering her ending correctly that when you do she starts treating you like all the other members.

Man this thread brings back some memories. Anyone remember Runaway City? That had the oddest ending out of any VN or eroge i've ever played.

ololololol,God fucking loves you so he gave you the power to make any girl fall massively in love with you. Wait, huh, whats that? You dont want it!? WHAT KIND OF GIGANTIC FAGGO-....Okay sure, your new girlfriend is hot but think about the possibilitys! You call her sucking on your dick a bad end!? FFFFF

It was ok for fapping, but the story sucked.
I guess its purpose was for fapping, so nothing of value was lost.
After watching the FSN anime, it seemed like it would make a great story... though I wouldn't be surprised if gratuitous hentai appeared.

The first one (which is more of an adventure game) was Phoenix Wright.

The first pure dating sim/VN one was Days of Memories (KOF fanboy inside me). It was also the first time I used dictionaries and text rippers to make sense.
